Description

This small creature seems cut from the earth itself. Her rough grey skin
has the dry, craggy texture of stone. Strange too are her eyes. Enormous,
glittering liquid black. There seems to be no obvious pupil or iris, just
tiny flecks of color that catch the faintest light, sparkling like starts
in a dark sky.

Zaka's parents were part of a small band of svirf explorers mapping out the
deep underdark. Among many strange things, they discovered a large, dimly
glowing crystal formation that seemed sensitive to the flow of mana. It was
significantly easier to use magic nearby. In fact, just being near the
formation was pleasant for anyone with some talent. The group ended up
making it the location of their main long term camp. Zaka was eventually
conceived and born there, under the soft glow of those crystals.

She was hypersensitive to shifts in the veil from the start. Crying
unconsolably over even a slight thickening. Comforted, more than by her
mother's voice, by its thinning. Her parents did their best for her as she
grew, but she was a strange and cold child, hard to relate to. The only
real interest she showed was in the simple magic they could show her. It
was a relief for everyone when she had learned all she could from them and
the other in the camp, and decided she wanted to study properly back in
Cragstone.

After meeting with the different guilds, she settled on invocation because
it seemed like the most overt display of magical power. No subtlety at all,
just will given shape. As a student she was grim and determined and didn't
make any friends. She took every bit of knowledge they had for her and then
moved on to see what she could do with it.
