RoleChapter 8 The Smoldering Bridge and the Anvil. Added Fri Nov 12 21:24:30 2010 at level 51:Morning dawns over the peaks of the mountains. The mighty below of the battle within Mortorn can be heard along the mountain path. The city of Akan coming awake as our felar medic makes his way along the path. A surly group of orcs come out from hiding in their mountain home and cower as the felar walks by, spear in hand. He has trudged this path many times before, coming to bear homage to his patron Lord. He seeks to be known to the entire world as a follower of Lord Thror. To bear the anvil as a sign of one who will stand and not be broken by the trials of life, but will instead be used to shape others against his stoic dedication. The path before him is rocky and a challenge, it is no surprise that his Lord would allow his worldly home to be found in such a place. Close to his kin on one hand, but a difficult trek as well. The anvil, yes, that is what he seeks. He makes his way across the fiery bridge and kneels before an altar dedicated to his Lord. The hammer and anvil present and reminding him of his destiny. The Lord of Purity materializes before him, allowing the felar to bask in his presence. They speak of many things. They talk of the felar and his desires, and the Lord of Fire also hints at some things the felar had not considered as often as he does the anvil. He asks his Lord if it is possible for one to be a Sapper and to bear the Anvil. He is told that it is, but the path is hard. The felar flashes his toothy grin and comments that he is up for that challenge. As their conversation comes to an end Lord Thror gives the felar a task, one that he says is ultimately likely to be impossible. The felar nods his agreement and commits to it.
Days go by and the felar has been seen talking with the Empress of the Empire within the Inn of the Eternal Star. They seem to come to some kind of agreement and they tip their hats to one another. It would seem that our felars task was to make peace between the Empire and Battle. The felar is not the Commander of the village and so the decision for peace is not his to make. He does however find out from the Empress what it would take, and promises to speak with the Commander about it. Until then the battle is still on, his hide is not safe, and he knows this. A few more days go by and the felar finds time to speak with his Commander. The Commander agrees to part of what the Empress wants, but doesnt agree to pay homage of gold. The felar decides that he will work to acquire that gold if that is the final point of contention for peace. The conversations completed the felar walks out from the village, ready to continue his war for purity, and his task for peace. Healing must continue!

RoleChapter 7 The Path to Purity Added Fri Nov 12 21:22:14 2010 at level 51:Years have gone by since our young felar guard walked out from that deathful village and into the Fort of Blackclaw. Time has been good to him and his presence in the lands is becoming well known. Many mages have fallen to his spear and he continues his search for one who is pure of blood. He has caught glimpses of people that he believes might have some of the line of Pharaohs blood, but nothing has stood out. He has often been asked what he will do when he does find the one. He has made the answer simple for himself and for others. When the time comes that the savior of Azhan is found he will help guide the person to his rightful place on the Throne. The trials of life have however changed much about this felar. His only goal is no longer to just return the line back to a pure standard, but to help the world heal. His time as a medic has taught this felar much about the pains and suffering that the magic which corrupted his home are wreaking upon the world. He has a calling now even larger than that of Azhan, one that reaches to the entire world. For a time he would help the new Pharaoh when they are found, but he will go back to his greater purpose. He has found in his travels all over the lands that the people need a strong representation of the purity of living without the taint of magic. To this end he will help to heal the damage magic has caused. He will be that beacon on a hill for people to see. Purity must be found for Azhan to survive, but it also must be found for every man, woman, and child if the world is to survive!

RoleChapter 6 A Story Worth Hearing Added Tue Oct 5 14:23:08 2010 at level 7:A few weeks have gone by since the medicine man found the fela guard in the desert. He has slowly recuperated over time and you can tell the two have formed a bond. The fela guard looks at the medicine man with trust and thankfulness. As they are sitting around the fire in the middle of the mans hut they begin to tell the stories of their pasts. The man is intrigued by the felas story and relates to him his own story. Instantly the two know they are destined to work together. The man quickly tells the fela of this village he is in, and about its goals for the world. The fela recognizes the opportunity and realizes these people wish to find purity in the world as well. To get back to what truly should be. The fela asks the man to teach him what he may, and so they go about learning together. After a time the man tells the fela that he must find his own path back to the village, but that he is healthy enough to go out now and live on his own. The fela gratefully thanks the man and the giant guardian and makes his way back to the hard-packed road.
He travels west along the path and finds a trail leading off to the south. As he walks down the path he quickly realizes that a contingent of his people live here in this village. A measure of hope and joy can be seen in his posture and his smile is broad. There is hope to find the pure blood of the pharaohs again!

RoleChapter 5 Banishment Added Tue Oct 5 14:22:08 2010 at level 7:As morning light streams in through the windows a small contingent of the fela guard can be seen heading down into the dungeons. They drag the traitor guard from his cell and drag him outside. They force a half-full water skin and a small bag onto him and send him out past the Great Sphinx. The Sphinx growls at him as he goes by, barring his way to ever return while the current Pharaoh reigns. The fela tears a part of his shirt away and wraps it around his mouth to keep from breathing in the swirling sands. He makes his way out into the desert and is quickly obscured by the blowing sands.
A few days have gone by and we come to find the fela guard lying in the sand, exhausted and dehydrated. As he lay there, ready to perish, a man notices him and kneels to help him. He applies a bandage to his open sores, and a poultice to other wounds. The fela feels instantly better at the hands of the medic. He allows the fela a drink of his water skin and helps him to his feet. Together they make their way out from the sands and into a forested area. The fela is amazed at the scenery as his only real knowledge of the lands were in the heart of the desert.
The two make their way to a place cleared of trees and packed hard by many traveling feet. After awhile they make their way through a hole in a crumbling wall and past a large giant who moves to block the fela from entering the village. The man upholding the fela says a few words and the giant reluctantly steps aside. He takes him to a thatch covered hut and helps him lay down on a bed of straw. The fela nearly instantly passes out from exhaustion. The medicine man kneels and attends to the fallen fela. It seems the lords of this fela have not abandoned him after all.

RoleChapter 4 The Reason for Treason Added Tue Oct 5 14:21:10 2010 at level 7:The sounds of scurrying rodents can be heard in the cell of our beaten fela guard. He is curled on the floor attempting to stave off the sickness given to him by his once revered leader. He is barely able to bring himself to eat and drink of the awful food and water left for him. His body though is strong and the healing has already begun.
A few days go by and the guard is back to his feet, though still weakened by his ailments. He asks one of the other guards for a candle and paper on which to write. The guard doesnt see the harm in allowing him to write his final thoughts. As you look over the guards shoulder you notice what he wrote.
*** I, Growwlen Darkclaw, do hereby give my reasons in the defense of my treason. Long have we as a people found it our sacred duty to protect the royal bloodlines of the Pharaohs of old. We have always sacrificed our lives and our freedoms for his safety and health. In the last years we have watched as our Great Pharaoh was twisted to believing that magic could give him what none should have. We watched as their foul words and actions twisted the body and mind of our great lord. Do you not see my kin what the magicians have done to taint our beloved Pharaoh?Do you not remember our slavery and bondage to the magicians of old? Do you not see that our Great Pharaoh is a living corpse, alive only by the aide of dark magic? We must not stand for this! Rise up my brethren. Take up your staff and your whip and fight against our magician oppressors. The Blood of the Pharaohs is tainted and the one who sits on our golden throne must be vanquished in order to restore what should be!If I survive my trials I will set out to find one pure of blood who will take his rightful place in our kingdom. Do not stand by out of fear of death, but stand for what is right! Fight for the only true, pure blood! ***

RoleChapter 3 The Rise of Corruption Added Tue Oct 5 14:19:36 2010 at level 7:Months have gone by since the Great Pharaoh fell to the floor from his Throne of gold. The fela guard have been standing guard faithfully, as they always have, at the doors to his bed chambers. Reluctantly they are forced to allow entrance to the magicians that they see as the cause of his misery. Whispers can be heard in dark corners about the fall of the line of Pharaohs, and the tainting of the blood lines. As the fela guard stand by a maid rushes from the Pharaohs chambers and says that he is stirring from his state of rest. The ears of the guards perk up and a measure of confidence returns to their stature.
A few more days go by and the Pharaohs servants have been preparing the audience chamber for the return of its ruler. The fela guard are all assembled to witness the return of their liege. As the doors to the Pharaohs chambers open you notice his advisor is still beside him and he walks with a peculiar limp. His face is covered by his golden mask, but you notice that some of the bandages are still seen covering his neck and wrists. skin of his hands is pulled tight and the bones are very prevalent. As his gaze sweeps across the harem a number of them faint, uttering prayers against the darkness. He smirks at their fear and as he turns you notice the reason they were so afraid. His eyes are the color of blood. His advisor announces to all that the return of their Immortal Pharaoh is at hand! To kneel before him in supplication and praise.
Yet one fela guard will not bow down. He is seized by the Pharaohs shawtabies and beaten with a flail. They attempt to force him to bow to their Pharaoh and instead he fights back. He seizes the staff of another guard and destroys the lifelike shawtabies. The Pharaoh is outraged and points his finger at his former guard. He utters a word of magic and a dark cloud passes through the fela. He falls to his knees groaning as his insides feel like they are decaying. He is quickly taken from the audience chamber by a number of other guards.

RoleChapter 2 The Tainting of the Bloodlines Added Tue Oct 5 14:18:25 2010 at level 7:Weeks have gone by since our Pharaoh met with his new magicians. Together with his Advisor, Mordeki, the Pharaoh has come to rely on the council of these men. Within his great audience chamber the Pharaoh has reduced the number of his fela guards, citing that the magicians offer more protection. A number of magicians stand off to the Pharaoh's right constantly chanting and moving their arms in specific patterns. Different halos of colored lights dance about the Pharaoh who begins to look stronger as every day goes by. The magicians utter promises of true immortality to the Pharaoh who greedily accepts their advice, blinded by his desire to live forever. Only a few fela guards remain as an honor to their old association with the blood of the pharaohs.
While the magicians are working their magic over the Pharaoh one of them changes the pattern of his movements. Nobody else notices but one of the fela guards who begins to protest and point it out. He is quickly taken captive by one of the Pharaoh's shawtabies and held with his mouth shut. He watches helplessly as an aura of deep black permeates the colors about the Pharaoh. Suddenly the Pharaoh bends over in obvious pain. His skin begins to slough away and his eyes become sunken. He falls from his throne to the floor and the magicians gather around him with concern. They realize that their god has fallen at their doing. They quickly order the other two shawtabies to gather the body and take it to his bed chambers. Doctors are called in to attend to the ailing Pharaoh. Servants pick up the skin that fell away from his body and take it into the room. Maids rush out of the room and back in with white bandages. After a time the fela guard is released and allowed to stand guard outside of the door. He sneaks a peek into the room to see his Pharaoh wrapped completely in linen cloth and lying as still as death. He lowers his head in sorrow and mourns for his Pharaoh.

RoleChapter 1 In the Presence of a Pharaoh Added Tue Oct 5 14:16:46 2010 at level 7:Daylight streams through the openings in this hall decorated with gold. The sun shines brilliantly off of the golden metallic surfaces strategically placed about the room. These mirrors reflect the light of the sun outside and banish the darkness from this large audience chamber. Sitting atop a throne, positioned on a raised dais, sits a dark man adorned with jewels and gold. A large headpiece sits upon his head and he wears a mask of gold. To his left and right stand his lifelike guards. A man in blue robes adorned with constellations stands to his right. Fela men stand guard along the walls of the chamber as a group of men approach the dais. These men are dressed in a similar fashion to the man in blue robes, but appear to be of lesser standing. The fela guards along the wall lower their crooks and some grab whips from their belts, prepared to drag away any who would bring harm to their Pharaoh. A small group of the Pharaohs harem giggle nervously as the guards move to intercept the group of men.
The man in blue robes motions for the guards to let the men pass. Reluctantly the guards move back to their positions and stand at attention. As the lesser men in blue approach they begin to move their hands and speak in a peculiar language. A few small explosions of colored lights emanate from their hands and fly toward the ceiling. The Pharaohs harem clap at the display of magical lights and the Pharaoh sits contented. A few of the fela guards grimace at the sight of the magical display, but none verbally object. The man in blue robes smiles at the group and ushers them closer to kneel before their Pharaoh. As the group begins to talk the harem and fela guards are ushered out of the chamber so that their meeting can go on in private. A few of the fela guards appeal to the Pharaoh to let them stay, but he waves them away with a curt gesture.
