Krcanan Sandhawk the Taiotoshi

Description

Upon swift wings, this bird of prey, hovers aloft the
winds observing his surroundings tactfully. A crest of
light sand feathering sweeps over his head and trails
down his back, giving the appearance of hair instead
of feathers. Though rather tall for his race, he moves
with an almost hypnotic grace. His head seems to never
come to a halt, twitching back and forth, glancing at
everything that moves with lightning reflexes. A small
curved ivory beak can be spied poking out beneath the
eyes, its hooked top apparently razor-sharp. It is his
irises which gather your attention, swirling from the
hollows of their sockets, with an intense radiant fury.
His sand colored plumage is covered in several regions
with a variety of mismatched armors, each so offering
the utmost freedom of movement. Twin iron scimitars can
be seen dangling from a belt at each of his sides, both
forged with minimal weight, offering more swift strikes.
Lastly, this birds aura burns like the deserts sun, a
mirage of pure fury, reborn of the sorrows of the sands.

--MENTAL and EMOTIONAL DISORDERS--

Fugue: Due to the severity of loss with the temple and
his peers of the Faithful, he has an inability to remember
various aspects of his previous life, leading towards a
partial adoption of a new identity.

Mania: Drastic increase towards goal-directed activity.

Phobia: Suffers from severe anxiety towards mazes due to
entrapment within the Sands of Sorrows.

Delusions: Believes himself to be the only remaining of
the religion of Muhadin, as a savior complex has begun
evolve within him.

--BACKGROUND ELEMENTS--

CONFLICT-Krcanan is opposed towards anything marked with
the woe of darkness.

CHALLENGES-Krcanan believes the loss of those which he
watched over within the temple to be his fault. In this
he has vows to take the burden of the hunt upon himself
as his penance for his failures.

MYSTERY-What has happened to his Lord? How can Krcanan
find him once again?

PASSION-The driving force behind him is redemption for
his self believed failure.

FAMILY-Krcanan was hatched within the temple, as the arial
society within had no family structure. They breeded for
the sole purpose to strengthen the Faith.

--LESSER PROFESSIONS--

MESSENGER-While living in the temple, Krcanan was given
the duty to deliver important information to surrounding
denizens of the desert of Araile pertaining to dark hearts
whom were known lurking within the sands.

HAWKER-So that those of the Faithful had a constant
resource of goods and coins, Krcanan would sell goods by
yelling and auctioning in the caravan roads amongst the
merchants. He was given the name of SandHawk by these sand
people for his proficient ways as a hawker.

QUARTERMASTER-With his innate ability to procure wares for
the temple guards, Krcanan was in charge as provisioner.

SHIPWRIGHT-Krcanan has recently in adventures has become
fond of vessels of the seas. He now studies various points
of interest in construction of sea faring vessels.

With Freedom Comes Loss..A Penance of Honor...

Day of Freedom, 16th of the Month of the Spring.

Swelling from the void encompassing the sands, a blinding
flash of light erupted. I stood in awe, hypnotized by its
beauty. And then their was silence...The haze from my eyes
cleared, as I regained my focus. What was this? I was now
no longer within the Sorrows, and stood amongst the caravans
in the desert of Araile. Some sort of planar event or even
shift had occurred. I would fly swift upon the winds so to
rejoin the faithful and thy lord within the temple, yet I
would be overcome by horror, as it and our people were now
gone. It was as if it had ceased to exist. What became of
the temple? The Faithful? And thy Lord whom is sits above
all others? I promise to find answers to these queries.

Day of Thunder, 30th of the Month of Long Shadows.

I have begun my search to find others of the Faith whom
might have survived this catastrophe, and have enlisted
into the Academy of Thera to hone thy mind, body, and
soul, as one. Becoming a guard to the temple at such a
young age, and trained only in the use of the sword, I
believe I can bring focus to a more subtle art or warfare.
If I am the only reminder of the Faithful, I will need to
strike from the very shadows which I stand against, and
hope to find others whom share these ideals. With my own
failure to guard the Temple and the Faithful, I decree of
all my soul, that my penance shall be to walk alone, for
I left them alone. No other shall endure my hardships or
battles along thy side. For I am now bound by honor to do
so as such. With all that is pure of thy soul, I shall so
remain bound by the codes of honor till my final breath.

Faith within the Sorrows...

Let is be known that this journal belongs to one of the
Faithful, for I am known as Krcanan Sandhawk, loyal guard
of the Temple of thy Lord, Muhadin An'hallah. With those
words of introduction, I tell you now, as the sun bleeds
its rays down upon my flesh, that it has been ages since
I have seen the temple. I have been lost in the swirling
Sands of Sorrow for what seems a lifetime now. The sands
torments have consumed all meaning of time and space, as
I fear the only absolution will be death. However, I am
one of the pure, and to offer my souls release without a
hint of an opposition would be folly. I shall endure till
the day I find my way from within this prison of torment.


of Deception, 11th of the Month of the Heat.

The days have grown long, and the nights even longer, as
I ponder under the coldness of the moons subtle light. I
reflect upon how I came to be here. That fateful day when
I traveled to the Sultan's city to call upon the faithful
whom made their pilgrimage to our Lord. However, a simple
case of mistaken identity altered my life. Who would've
guessed that as I rode into the city that day, the Queen
of the Sultan had begun an affair, and her lover would be
escaping from incarceration and avoiding his date with
the hangmans noose. Before I knew it I went from pilgrim
of the faith, to prisoner in the Sultan's dungeon facing
a grim public execution. Not wanting to see an innocent
man killed, the Queen secretly had me freed and escorted
out of the city and abandoned into the Sands of Sorrows.
Of course, to keep her lover safe, she tipped off the
Sultan about my "escape" and apparent prisonment within
the sands by his "loyal" guards. We all face trials of
faith and to serve penance..And this hand fate dealt me.

of the Great Gods, 3rd of the Month of the Old Forces

I have found a mist these sands an oasis hidden within, as
to gather ample sustenance to further my survival. Within
these cursed sands I fear a great evil lurks, calling out
my name to succumb to the hardships which ravage my soul.

This night I witnessed a strange occurence within the sky.
The stars seemingly aligned in perfect unison, and like a
flame of a candle extinguishing with a single breath, all
of which ceased to exist. Nothing but absolute silence, as
even the heavens themselves felt empty in this void. Yet
there I remained in the prison of the sand, however even
the sands would swirl no more and lay still as of death.
Thera would seem to be no more save for this penance which
I found myself within. Then suddenly...Their was light....
