Description

A tall figure in a long grey robe is before you.
His skin is well-tanned, but not too much so, still having its
healthy smoothness.Dressed more formally than most travelers,
with dark blue leggings and a forest green vest with a creamy
shirt beneath.He carries himself in a manner befitting royalty,
aloof and arrogant, that is readily noticeable from a distance.
His eyes focus with a dull colored grey color that do not
reflect anything. Long, but seemigly strong, fingers protrude
from his hands, able to make delicate and graceful movements
and gestures used in the art of spell casting.Dark black hair
streaks down like a rushing waterfall from his head to his knees,
a tattered silver band tied around his forehead.Wands and staves
protrude slightly from a blue velvet bag and the crackling of old
parchment gives away the presence of scrolls as well.
He seems to prefer daggers, at least that's what you gather from
the array of them hanging from his belt.
A thin onyx of black rope is tied around his large waste glows
brightly.He looks like he does a lot of traveling, with dusty,
well-worn boots.

Chapter 1

Born of the Storms

Born on the docks of Arkham harbor, Bremenal grew up a fisherman's son.
Working the nets with his father, the lad learned to brave the storms of the
sea. As he grew, he learned from his father who was exceptionally skilled at
defying the storms, and as a youth, the father-son team defied many storms
that would cow the most sea-hardy men of the waves. As a result, the profits
from their catches began to climb sharply as they tackled the storms that
sent their competition to shore. Young Bremenal began to believe there was no
storm they couldn't conquer. Then one fateful day, a fierce storm arose from
nowhere just as they labored to bring in an exceptionally large catch.
Skillfully, father and son worked the boat and the nets, defying the storm
while simultaneously hauling their catch aboard. Suddenly the sea grew calm
and placid as the winds ceased. Over the next few minutes, the waves settled
until the water was as smooth as glass, though the skies remained eerily
dark. Realizing this was no ordinary squall, the veteran sea captain ordered
rushed to drop the limp sails as he ordered his son to put out the oars as
fast as possible. Just as the pair began rowing toward shore, a keen
whistling began growing from the distance astern. In flash, the old man knew
what was coming and shouted for his son to row for their lives. But no more
had the order left his mouth than a swirling pillar of water entered their
vision and swept upon them at a frightening speed! A waterspout! Bremenal had
heard stories of them in the taverns along the docks, though he had always
dismissed them as fishermen's fables, concocted for tales over ale. But he
was staring into the face of one as it raced upon he and his father as they
rowed for their lives! In moments, the waterspout was upon them, upending the
small sloop from the stern, plunging the bow into the suddenly angry waters.
As the ship turned on its nose, the newly filled cargo hold emptied its
contents back into the sea, and suddenly the ship took flight as the weight
of its load instantly vanished. Bremenal clung to the belaying pins as the
ship sailed round and round through the air, the rain and seawater blasting
his skin like sand until he bled from dozens of cuts and scratches. Finally,
the waterspout gave one last might heave as it ripped the boat in two and
crushed the halves to splinters. A stay belaying pin slammed into the side of
the young fisherman's head and all went black. When Bremenal awoke, he was
draped over the back of a dolphin, swimming high on the surface to keep his
face out of the water. A few moments later, the animal deposited him on the
shore, nudging him further on to the beach with each wave, then wiggled its
way back into the sea and swam off with a click. Slowly, his strength
returned, and he realized his father was no where around. After days of
searching by the other fisherman, the grizzled captain was pronounced dead.

Born of the Storms Continued

Most of the other fisherman said it was vengeance of the sea for all their
boasting of defying the storms. The evening after the funeral, young Bremenal
stood on the cliffs overlooking the sea. Calling on the name of Captain
Neltouda, he vowed he would one day conquer the waterspout and bend it to his
will, in honor of his father's memory.

The Storm Surges Within

On the anniversary of that fateful day, Bremenal was on his way to Candi's
Confections for a cake to celebrate his father's memory, when he observed
what looked to be a waterspout gliding down the street behind a man in a robe
with mystical symbols. Having kept himself busy with his father's business,
Bremenal had rarely left the docks and come to this part of town. The docks
held everything he'd ever needed, food, ale, fish, and most importantly, the
sea with it's inspiring storms. Suddenly, the memory of his vow rushed into
his mind, and he quickly followed after this man who had tamed the
waterspout. Soon after, the young fisherman began his training in the Arkham
guild of conjuration. Driven by the storms within, he progressed rapidly
through his guild. Although driven to fill his vow to tame the waterspout,
the storm surges within him drove him ever to explore the wide lands of Thera
as well, doing tasks for various people and impressing his guildmaster with
his tales of commerce, people, and places. It wasn't long before he was able
to call upon a familiar, and soon thereafter, he conjured and bound his first
water elemental! Although it would be some time before he could bind one of
comparable power and fury to match the spout that crush his boat and took his
father's life, it was a beginning, and only time and practice was needed.

And yet, the storm within drove him ever onward, discovering greater
challenges and daring him to conquer them. soon the conjuring fisherman
learned to call upon the forces of benevolence and evil and bind them to his
will. As he realized the ease with which he could bind them, he discovered
his greatest challenge yet. It was one thing to bind the denizens of the
abyss, conquering one by one, temporarily. It was quite another to conquer
the abyss itself! This was the greatest challenge he had ever known, and
likely the greatest he might EVER know! Just as he had vowed to conquer the
waterspout in honor of his father's memory, so too would he conquer the abyss
itself
