Description

A immensely thick giant looms before you draped in furs and freshly tanned
hides. By cloud giant standards, he is lean and tall with narrow-set eyes.
His sand-colored skin has a peach hue on his nose and beardless cheeks in
stark contrast to his intense, deep blue eyes. Long white hair hangs mostly
unkempt down his back. He moves with grace for such a big creature. Five
parallel scars mark his right shoulder with three continuing down his arm.
As you continue examining the mature giant, he fidgets uncomfortably.

Chapter 3

New Home, New Directions
Added Wed Mar 31 00:23:53 2010 at level 45:

Ujor finally made contact with the leader of this small village and was
asked to seek out and gain the trust of others of the pack. Ujor did this
quickly, putting his hunting skills to use to find and speak with them.
Talking with Knacnar again, the village and its cause were strengthened
with Ujor's induction.

While being shown about this village, the leader noticed Ujor could not
read. There were tablets, books, and inscriptions about, none of which Ujor
cared to make sense of. Knacnar told Ujor plainly that he should learn how
to read. Ujor's tribe had always associated books with wyrm-wyrds and they
were forbidden. Because of his pride, Ujor didn't think much of the
suggestion. Why should he know how to read?

Ujor has noticed his name, Ujor Brun-rak, has spread in the land. He now
has many unusual strangers speaking to him as though they know him. Some
tell him the locations of enemies. At times he curiously investigates or
passes along the information. Other times Ujor wonders if he is being
hunted and is being baited into a trap. Perhaps the strangest of all, or
most obvious trap in Ujor's eyes, was when a very young fire giant
seemingly randomly asked Ujor to hunt down a specific axe for him. Ujor
smartly stayed away.

Ujor has noticed since fighting alongside the other hunters of wyrm-wyrd
tongues that not all as as skilled and tactical as Ujor had thought they
would be. Sometimes they confuse Ujor for a warrior, expecting him to rush
brashly into a fray. Other times the many wander one at a time to die at
the hands of a few when trying to regain the bloody wyrm-wyrd head. At
first Ujor found himself going along with these, or even believing it
himself, only to fall alongside the others. However, Ujor has realized he
must hunt in his own way and at times step up and guide when needed.

To this end, Ujor realizes he needs to learn to write. He needs to be able
to communicate with the others. He needs to be able to pass along
information about applicants, enemies, and hunting patterns to the entire
village. The applicant Mne suggested Ujor seek out the help of the
Immortals. Although Ujor's tribe would disapprove and he still doesn't see
much reason to read by itself, Ujor sees the ability to write as essential
to help this village grow as one pack and be guided by Ujor's Tok.

Chapter 2

Maturity in the New Land

Ujor has had a difficult time adjusting to life on the flat lands. He
discovered new sights and sounds, such as many walled places and the runty
people occasionally asking for his assistance in various matters. Sometimes
Ujor would help, if the moment dictated it and he was trusting enough,
while other times he would ignore their requests, or even kill them if he
feared a trap. He also discovered new dangers, such as long roads and large
cities. Ujor has learned the hard way to avoid these as much as possible
because invisible enemies hunt him ruthlessly. He now considers these
places haunted. As Ujor believes it is important to develop the strength to
eventually face your fears, he will one day hunt these evil invisible foes.

Slowly, Ujor has been adjusting, and has spent much time learning the
smells and shadows of the land while hunting for the many wyrm-wyrd users
walking these lands. Although he has been active in his hunts, he has found
it especially challenging to see them. They are more cunning than the
wolves and elk Ujor is accustomed to encountering. But he is learning.

Ujor has also learned of a group of skilled hunters that dedicate
themselves to the eradication of all wyrm-wyrds in every form. Seeing this
as a noble cause, Ujor has sought them out to try to learn more of their
ways. Although he has spent most of his time observing from a distance,
Ujor put himself at great risk by meeting some in person and hunting with
them. Ujor shared some antelope meat with the other Village Applicants in
hopes of befriending them. Mostly so they would know Ujor's name and not
hunt him.

Advancing as a hunter has become one of his top priorities, and he is
willing to chance travel with others to do it.

Ujor has taken quite a liking to eating antelope steaks.

Chapter 1

Nomadic Cloud Giants, Toks, Wyrm-wyrds, and Runty Clans

Ujor Brun-rak's clan was a remote tribe of cloud giant nomads living among
the frigid, far north mountain peaks. Ujor does not get along very well
with strangers.

They had no written language. Ujor cannot understand any written words,
books, signs, or notes.

Their religion involved the idea that each group of creatures was a part of
its own powerful animal spirit-guide called a "Tok". A pack of wolves acted
in concert because they were directed by a single great wolf Tok. Solitary
animals, such as some bears and great cats, were to be feared and respected
in combat because they were more intimately connected to their powerful
guiding spirit. Organizations of people, including Ujor's clan, also have
animal Toks.

Magical spells, or "Wyrm-wyrds", were seen as a wicked attempt to control
the Tok for one's self and magic was expressly forbidden on punishment of a
quick, unceremonious death. Magical animals, like dragons, were viewed as
the ultimate evil sacrilege.

With the dawn of the fifth age, Ujor's people faded into nothingness and
did not reappear. Now, only Ujor remains. As he leaves the mountain peaks
heading south to roam the warm, lowland plateaus of the "runty clans"
looking for a new family, Ujor carries with him the weighty knowledge that
he alone is the last retainer of his tribe's Tok--the fabled Hoarfrost
Yeti.
