Description

In his prime this half-drow would have stood nearly six feet tall. Now
however he is slightly stooped with age. His skin is a rusty brown color and
is crisscrossed with wrinkles.He remains lean but his broad shoulders
betray his human heritage. His eyes, when turned in your direction, are a
subdued blue and are reminiscent of the troubled sea. He sports a sparse,
grey steaked beard, which gives him a bedraggled, if somewhat dignified air.
His mismatched clothing and general demeanor indicate an inherent shiftiness.

A beginning

I was born the bastard son of Mazira al Huroq of Hamsah Mutazz.An
unfortunate victim of the amorous affections of a wandering drow sellsword,
my mother bore the fruits of shame as well she could. I, unfortunately, did
not. My mother's family were merchants of the desert, selling wares to the
equally uneducated masses. Neither wanted, nor loved, it was merely a matter
of time before I sought my fortune elsewhere.

As it happened, my family was ultimately responsible for my departure. At
the age of 15 I was asked to accompany a shipment from Hamsah to Galadon.
Well, it is easy to imagine how an unwanted and ambitious youth could become
entranced with all that is Galadon. I was mesmorized. In no time at all I
had fallen with exactly the right element and was introduced to the Galadon
thieves guild as a promising, and contributing, young prospect.With both
the ambition and the skill it was easy to ditch the troublesome convoy which
I had brought from Hamsah and fit seamlessly into the petty criminal crownd
of Galadon. So began my journey towards oppulence.

Intoxication

I have become accustomed to a live of affulence. A few quick movements, a
few moments of deception, and 30 silvers are in my pouch. The intoxication
of wealth has seduced me. Never again shall I rely on others to dole out
pitiful allowances. With the aid of the Galadon guild I will forever be a
man of means.

New Kingpin

Well I have finally settled into my place among the thieves of Galadon.We
have a new Kingpin and thus far it has been a mixed blessing. He is free
with advice and occassional gifts, but will also fleece you with items of
limited value. I suppose 100 gold is not such a great price to pay for the
information I have gleamed from him, but it still smarts to pay it for a
dragon hide and a ring of some value. The price one pays for doing business
I suppose. Well I think I shall be well suited among these thieves, though I
remain conflicted about joining the elite ranks. I think it would not be so
difficult, but I am unsure of the value to me. We shall see in time.

Elite

I feel as if ages have passed since I joined the Galadon guild.Gone are the
nervous feelings and trembling hands. I have joined the elite ranks of the
guild (at limited investment on my part) and feel comfortable within its
ranks. I have mixed feelings regarding the current Kingpin as he splits his
time between the guild and the office of the Tribunal. It is hard to swallow
a lawman as a leader and it has interfered with my business on numerous
occassions now.I think I will support a replacement as soon as it is
practical (assuming it is to my benefit of course).

As to the deft arts I have gained much proficiency. It is now more common
for me to steal from the shadows and I am much more adept at escaping
detection altogether. It has earned me some enemies (particularly rangers;role + and Imperial types), but I am less and less concerned about being in their
good graces.

We have finally come to a vote over control of the Guild. It is to be Tellik
against Iktul. It seems a choice between greed and fear. Tellik seeks to
buy us all into his good graces while Iktul uses fear to secure votes. I am
leaning towards Tellik, but have not quite made up my mind. Iktul initially
blackballed Tellik for making the attempt, but I think Glinar has intervened
to prevent such an action. I shall have to consider which action yields the
greatest profit with the lowest risk.

As to more mundane matters I continue to make my fortune. My goal is to
secure 500 gold in the banks of Thera before I visit that blasted gambler
with any more of my gold. I am fairly close at the moment. Also, I think my
ability to interact with different species on their level has continued to
improve. Of course I can speak comfortably with humans of any social status,
but I have become more adept at speaking with gnomes, dark-elves, elves, and
giants in a manner more befitting their stations. I will continue to work on
this skill.

Iktul's revenge

Well the guild has finally ousted Iktul and replaced him with Tellik. Iktul
was displeased by this turn of events and slew me for it. I have decided I
will actively work to undermine him in other aspects of his life. First I
will attempt to turn guild sentiment against his friend Fyeereth. If I can
get her hunted by the guild perhaps she will forsake Iktul to save her own
skin. At the very least it should further enrage Iktul. I have not yet
devised a method to have him ousted from his Provost position, but I will
continue to explore that avenue of vengence.

All that Glitters

I feel my time among the Galadon thieves may be coming to an end. What was
initially a life of glamour and oppulance had become a prison of boredom and
repetition. The streets which had once entranced me now bear the dull sheen
of familiarity.I have gathered such a quantity of gold that I could not
easily spend it quickly. And what is the point of having such gold when I
can merely take what I wish? My life needs something more only I cannot
fathom what it might be. I have few friends, having robbed most of my peers
of their more valuable items at some point or another. My revenge against
Iktul has come to naught and it now seems pointless to continue the effort.

As to my efforts as a merchant and purveyor of exotic items, well I met with
some success but it brings me little satisfaction. I am not a peddler to be
constantly seeking commissions nor bothering strangers to buy my wares.And
as I have little need for gold it seems a waste of time and effort (however
little it took given I merely took what was sought from those passing through
Galadon).

There must be something else, if only I can figure out what it may be . . .

Greed

I have found happiness again, and in the simplest of all pleasures. What a
fool I was too seek happiness outside of the things I know. A simple cut
purse here, an item lifted there, those are things that keep me happy. I
must confess simple greed is what I know best and what pleases me most.One
of these days I will leave an appropriate gift in the shrine of the Lord of
Greed. Perhaps gold, mayhap an item of some value, I have not yet decided.
Praise be to him of greed though for rekindling the basest, and strongest, of
my desires.

New Pursuits

My pursuits have taken an interesting turn of late. The Marshall of the
Fortress has engaged my services to act as an informant for the Fortress. It
remains to be seen if this will be a profitable venture as payment is
partially dependant on what Fortress members are able to do with the
information I provide to them. I have already been disappointed by their
inability to gather information regarding the Bowl of Winds. The damnable
Bowlhas become the bane of my existence. Sometimes I feel that if I can't
unearth its secrets it will surely drive me insane.

As of late I have felt more keenly the blade of time slipping ever more
surely into my body. The years have taken their tole and I am no longer
young, even with the advantages of my mixed heritage. More and more I find
myself thinking back on the adventures of my youth and feeling a certain
appreciation for the luck I have always had. I am convinced I have enjoyed
the favor of the patron saint of Greed.In my youth I left ocassional
offerings in the shrine of the old God of Greed. I realize now that I was
misguided. Clearly my favor has come from an active Lord. I have decided I
will learn more of this Immortal Captain and perhaps seek a place to leave
appropriate offerings.

Calm

Life has once more turned dull.No longer do easy marks regularly traverse
my fair city. And with the abundance of invokers, the roads leading to
Galadon are filled with icestorms and quicksand. Dangerous for both the
unwary thief and the easy mark thinking to make a safe journey into the city.
but I am getting used to the occassional doldrums that
accompany the life of a thief. It can't always be an exciting chase and a
profitable venture I suppose.

As my pursuits have slowed it has given me time for a bit of introspection.
Unusual for me but perhaps overdue. In past times of calm I have sought
entertainment in the recruiting of new guild members or in the unraveling of
certain, profitable mysteries. This time however I feel confined to my city
and thus a more poetic release called to me.
