Description

A rather short arial of only six feet stands here. With bright white plumage
that is marred only by a streak of blue down his throat, he is quite
noticeable. Of course, this noticeability could also stem from the fact that
at times the look on his face can change from deliriously happy to insane
with murderous rage or any other radical end of the emotional spectrum then
back again in a matter of seconds. Now that you think about it, he does
appear to have a facial tic that causes his head to jerk to the side
sporadically. Overall a rather unusual and unsettling character.

The Incident

Callaien Velney was a normal arial from a normal family residing in Galadon.
His father was a cobbler, unusual for an arial but eh, whatever, and his
mother was a homebody. His childhood was completely normal along with his
adolescence, up until a matter of elven days ago.

It was midday when the first of the rumblings came from the Shadow Grove.
Without warning, the sky darkened and huge, winged shapes blotted out what
little sun was showing through at that moment. Dragons began to fly across
the face of Thera. Living a somewhat sheltered life, Callaien had no idea
what such creatures portended as he rushed out to witness the sight. Living
fairly near the southern end of town, he watched at the biggest of all the
beasts, bearing five heads, passed overhead. With his natural arial curiosity
and love for life, he felt no fear of the beast until one of the heads snaked
down, almost absent mindedly, and tore apart his loving parents, who had
followed their son out to see.

The sight of his parents dismembered bodies, limbs strewn about and blood
seeping into the road, was too much for the young arials mind to comprehend.
As Tiamat continued to whatever place it now calls its home, Callaien's mind
broke down, leaving him to stand near the corpses without a single thought in
his head. When he recovered somewhat, the remains were gone and his muscles
were sore. He had moved and buried the remains himself, but had no
recollection.

Tiamat killing his family had such a traumatizing affect on him that he
remembers almost nothing of his life before finding himself standing outside
the Warrior's guild, which he had sought simply because it required little to
join. Because of his trauma, his emotions swing about wildly with no middle
ground. He is either at the most extreme level of joy, in the deepest depths
of depression, or in the fiercest grips of anger, or any other emotion that
occurs to him seemingly at random.

Despite his mental blocking of his parents' murder, somewhere deep in his
mind he feels the need to seek retribution against Tiamat and evil in
general. For reasons unknown to his conscious self, he seeks to join the
ranks of the Fortress of the Light.
