Chapter 1

Shredding the past.

Calm washes over Tasalei as she lies in the darkness, blood congealing upon
her arms and chest. A shout rises from the slave pens, her latest work
discovered. The Matriarch would not be pleased at another loss of profits,
but Tas cared little at the time. She was happy for the moment and that was
all that mattered. "Find her Udort, find her and this time I don't care what
you do with her! Just never let me see her again!" That got Tasalei's
attention. The Matriarch never says something she doesn't mean and House
Weaponmaster would take great pleasure in tormenting Tas after all she's done
to him. It seems the Matriarch was pushed too far this time by Tas's desires.
Obviously, power would never come to her stifled in this place where she is
not allowed to indulge her lust for flesh. "You, check under there!" Instinct
takes over and Tas bolts. Quicker and stronger than the stupid males, she
flees to the tunnels where they dare not go alone. What sources of power
might be had to enthrall her beyond the caverns Tas did not know, but she
would find it and devour it!
