Goroel Fireblood the Fevered Stoker of the Flames, Drillmaster of Battle
DescriptionThe first thing you notice about the dwarf before you is, curiously, that he has no beard. Where a lush and think beard should be is a nothing but some slighly graying stubble that appears to be well kept and neat. Upon the right side of the dwarfs neck, jest below his jawline, is a large tattoo of an incarnadine spiral. His face, neck, and from what you can tell from the rest of his exposed skin, is heavily scarred. The most prominant of which appear to be extremely bad burns and weird circular wounds that appear almost like wounds from arrows that have been removed. His black eyebrows frame large blue eyes that seem to be constantly shifting around looking for threats. His nose has a large kink in it, clearly from an improperly set brake. His face also features a large triple line horizontal scar from one cheek, across the bridge of his nose, to his other cheek, it appears to have been from a very large claw strike to his face. His hair trails down his back and is tied around the height of his waist to keep it from getting in his way too much. His frame is immense, his shoulders appear almost unnaturally wide for one of his kind and are the foundations for equally impressive arms. Through his armor and clothing you can almost make out what appears to be a tattoo of a large black dragon sitting atop a mound of tankards with a little fela standing beside. He appears to be in fighting form, extremely fit, without even a hint of a beer gut which his kind are so reknowned for.

24951, Goroel's Role Chapter 8

RoleChapter 8 The beginning Added Wed Jan 28 21:40:32 2009 at level 1:In my family you are either a blacksmith, a stonemason or a soldier. If you are not one of these then you are nothing, cousin Jirhal found this out when he decided to dedicate his life to that of painting. He is no longer a member of our family, is not talked to, talked of, or invited to anything we did. But this is my story, this is my record of what has been my beginning but will not be my ending.
My father is a blacksmith, he would spend every hour of every day in front of a forge forming weapons, tools, anything and everything from seemingly useless blocks of metal. He began to teach me from a very young age how to do almost all of his trade. He had me manning the fire, he had me striking the molten metal to basic shapes and he had me carrying the raw materials. It was a hard life to grow into but the fires of his forge melted away any excuses I had to not live a hard life. Yet from the first day I started he did not forget to inform me that this was not my path. I was not to become a blacksmith, no, I was to become a soldier. My father began taking me around to my uncles, and aunts, and I began my training to fight. They would beat me, they would fight me, or they would brawl with me to make me better. It was never proper lessons in the sense that was no classroom but I learnt, oh did I learn how to fight. The lessons were harsh, and they were thorough, and yet the next day my father would expect me in the forge with him helping him and doing my work, no matter how badly beaten I was. Once there was no more my family could teach me my father began taking me to bars in the evenings. He would go and stir up as much trouble as he could and direct it all on me, he would make me fight strangers, groups of strangers, even friends just to see how I could handle it. I handled it, I was always the last one standing, everytime. But after awhile the bars started banning us for destroying too much of their furniture during the brawls. It was an interesting childhood, and I made many good friends in those days from the brawls. They would buy me beers, of which my father would drink most of, after they had picked themselves up and slapped me on the back for a good job. Still I would be in the forge pounding out impurities in metals or carring around baskets of ore. After some time my father let me in on my path in life. He told me that from a very early age he realised I had the fire blood. He went on to explain that while he had fire hands, which allowed him to be one of the finer smiths, I had fire blood, which was what made me such a great fighter. He said that as a baby once I got angry it would not end, it would go on for days until I had what I wanted, and he told me that the same thing happened when I was brawling in the bar.

RoleChapter 7 The beginning pt3 Added Wed Jan 28 21:44:42 2009 at level 1:As soon as one of my foes said a drunken insult my eyes clouded over and the blood kicked in and kicked out at those around me. He said it was a sight to behold, and it was why I was always so respected after everyone had picked themselves up. He explained to me that coming up was the tournament for the Kings Clasp. It was a generational competition to find members for the honored and famous Kings Guard, once very generation. Whomever won all of their fights would win the clasp, a place among the Kings Guard and the greatest honor among soldiers for their family for an entire generation. He, no, my entire family, expected me to win, it was why they had all done their part in training me in their favourite weapons, the use of armors and how to kill, which was beyond my father.
I rose to the challenge, I worked extra hard for my father to build my strength and thrashed as many of my family as I could to hone my abilities with blades, hammers, all kinds of weapons. I was ready, I was willing and I was going to do this for them all. The tournament was grand. It was held within the castle itself, before the Kings throne and his guard. My first five fights were close, were hard, but in the end were much like the bar brawls. Those I beat would slap me on the back and wish me well and offer my father ale for raising such a fine lad. It wasn't until the last fight that things became different, that everything changed. My foe was not a kin, was not a dwarf, he was a human, a man. As soon as the announcement was made that he was being placed into the final fight, instead of the dwarf who had rightfully earned the place there was an upror among the crowd. I did not mind, a foe was a foe, whether they were human, dwarf, or even an elf! I strode out onto the floor wearing my fathers finest plate armor and with a blade of which the likes none had ever seen before, it was my fathers finest creation and it was made specifically for this day, for this fight, for this honor. I closed the gap between us in moments and drove my sword towards the mans gut, and to my surprise he did not react, did not cower, did not even move, he just watched me. As my blade struck home and the crowd rose to their feet I knew there was something wrong. It had not felt like my blade had struck flesh, it had been deflected....by magic! My blade had not even touched his clothing! I swung again, and again, and again, yet my blades did not even scratch him. Each and everytime my blade struck it bounced away within inches of his flesh. It felt like an eternity of striking but it must have been mere moments before he spoke to me, I will never forget the words he spoke as they will haunt me for eternity "Put you worthless blade down, dwarf, your time is up, it is time to end this."

RoleChapter 6 The beginning (the real pt3) Added Wed Jan 28 21:46:24 2009 at level 1:After speaking he merely raised his hand and I was flung away in a ball of fire. I do not remember much more of the fight, I believe the words, or the flames, had ignited my fire blood and I was not able to fully comprehend what happened after that. But I do remember bits and pieces. I remember my face burning as if it were on fire, I remember pieces of ice as large as my fingers piercing right through my arms, my legs, my body. I remember winds trying to tear me apart and I remember more fire, more heat, more pain, as if I was lying in a forge. But the one last thing I remember was that each time I was knocked down, each time he thought he had won, I rose up. I brought my sword to a ready position and advanced once more. I did not give up, I would not give up, I COULD not give up. I would defeat him, I would win the clasp and I would win the honor for my father and my family!
I was told after, while I was healing in the Kings Guards barracks that my father watched every gruesome moment of my battle and when he saw that I did not rise anymore he turned and strode from the castle, tears falling from his eyes. The King had taken pity on me and had called the fight himself. He had ended it by letting a human take one of our most glorious honors. He had let a wizard, a magic user, a weak bodied slave to the veil of magic take the greatest honor of those who dedicate their life to the arts of combat! It was a disgrace. I was a disgrace. I left the barracks and the healers as soon as I could, against their worries of permanent scarring to the majority of my body. These would be my personal marks of shame for the rest of my life. They would be there to remind me of what I was capable of when the my bloody was ignited by the rage, the hate, the anger that was dwelling and waiting to come out. I went home in the middle of the night, collected what few belongings I would need and left. I left my family as they had left me. I left my family so they would not need to bear the shame of a failed soldier, of a failed son, of a failed honor. I will return one day. I will return one day after I have done enough to bring honor upon my entire family for all eternity. I will train myself harder then they believe possible, until I am stronger then they could ever imagine, and I will become the soldier that I know I can become, and he will be proud. My father will forgive me and be proud and all will be just once more.

RoleChapter 5 Awakening Added Sat Mar 7 19:34:37 2009 at level 45:As the fire roared, and the blade neared my neck, edging ever closer and closer, the Goddess Iunna asked "There's no way I can stop you, is there?" I shook my head and gruffly replied "No, ain't bein none". As the blade began to pull on my skin and scrape the beard away I remembered how I felt when I vowed to do this. Within moments of waking from my hut a gruff voice, that of the Biddy's, had started hammering me about everything I had accomplished in my life. At first I thought it humour, I could take it, I had heard worse, but then it kept going, became worse, to the point that she told me I had spent my entire life with my head up my arse, smelling shit. A line inside was crossed. All my life I had spent fighting and earning what I had recieved. Respect from my family, my abilities in battle, my Hut in the Village, even the friendships of those I call brothers and sisters. Yet the one thing that I had not, that I, personally, had not fought for was my faith, my blind faith, in the patron Goddess of my people. I had been brought up to believe that her way was the one way. But after she kicked me from the heavens instead of meeting me, when she dumped me in the latrine hole and emptied out the only tankard of grog I had, and then transpired so that I would fall to the denizens of the underworld, she had lost my faith, she had lost my respect, she had lost any feelings of devotion I had for her. It made me realise that my faith in her hadn't made me the person I am, I had made me the person I am. Through my actions, through my resolve, through my own drive I had accomplished everything I am now. She was not worthy of my faith, she was not worthy of my actions, she was not worthy of me. And in my anger, in my rage, I yelled that I would shave off my beard as a sign of my loss of respect for her, and I am a man of my word. It would represent everything that I believed her to be being removed from my body. This was my oath, and so my actions must fit. I would make my own path, I would make my own decisions, unclouded by my blind faith, and I would be greater then I had dreamed possible, and then my father would respect me, he would welcome me back. Yet I would tell him that my place was now somewhere else, and in doing so he would respect me even more. This is what will come to pass, this is what will be, and all because of the decisions I make, not those I thought were for another.

RoleChapter 4 The drunkard and the dragon Added Tue Mar 17 14:28:23 2009 at level 51:"Yah know, I've not had the pleasure of inking one of your kin before. You arms, such a magnificant canvas!" "Yah doin' it like ah asked, eh? Ah want it ta be jest right!" "Aye, aye, it's going to be magnificant!"
The pain started again as the inker began piercing my skin once more. Two of my brothers, two of the best friends, the best brothers I could have ever have had, have passed on. They believed in something bigger then themselves, they fought and died for it, and I still stand, I still fight. If I did anything but continue, no, strive to be better then I am, then I would be disgracing everything they stood for. I would be disgracing their memories, their spirits. They've left their mark on my mind, on my very being, it's time they left their mark on my body too. I go on for my family, for my Lady, and now for them. They feed my fire, they drive me on, and I will live a life they could be being proud of, all of them. The pain had ended, it was over, and yet it was worth it, so worth it.
"Alright, be careful of it for a day or two, let it heal up, then just make sure to keep it pretty, don't be getting cut on it!"
Atop a massive mound of large dwarven tankards, all with a giant 'A' clearly carved into the sides, sits a gigantic black dragon. The dragon sits with wings fully spread, front claws in the air reaching as if to tear anything and everything apart. Its eyes look manic, fiery and fierce, as blood flows freely from its wide open maw from the skulls sitting inside. It looks pissed off, angry, and more then a match for anything that wishes a fight. Upon its exposed chest and stomach is a giant incarnadine spiral. Standing to the dragons right, confidant and proud, is a diminutive fela. Her features are hard to distinguish but the fire that seems to originate from her very skin blazes with an intensity unrivaled by even the dragon. Her left hand rests upon the dragons left leg, tenderly keeping a grasp as if to give it a guiding hand and reassurance. The colours of the dragon, the tankards and the fela are inked to an extreme so that they almost seem to come alive as the bicep muscles in the right arm move. The wings cover the entire upper arm, curling from near the back to almost touching the chest. No expense has been spared in making sure that the tattoo lasts an eternity and stands out like no other ink can.

RoleChapter 3 The return Added Sat Apr 11 20:02:41 2009 at level 51:There was a commotion at the gates, there was trouble! Looking around the corner of the alley I peeked out for a quick glance, but after seeing what was transpiring I somehow knew I wasn't in any danger. There was a large hooded man, a kin, standing just inside the gates. I couldn't see much from beneath the cloak, all I saw was spikes sticking out of the gaps in the cloak and what seemed like spikes pushing up the cloak itself. But what I did see was that the dwarf with the hood had no beard! His face was badly scarred and almost hairless! He also seemed to have a large bright tattoo on the right side of his neck. I couldn't hear what was being said but one of the guards moved close and went to reach for one of the strangers shoulders. But just as he was about to touch the stranger the stranger moved with an uncanny speed and laid the guard flat with one blow to his stomach! I had never seen such speed or strength, it was as if the tales my father had told me had come to life and decided to visit me. The second guard rose his hands into the air and slowly backed off, moving to help his friend up, and it was then that I saw that the stranger wasn't alone. Standing just behind him was what seemed to be a diminutive fela, she too was wearing a cloak but unlike the strangers it was alot more regal and didn't cover her face. As the stranger strode off down the road she began to stride behind him, easily catching up to him, with what seemed like a wry smile spreading across her features. The stranger crossed right in front of the alley I was hiding in, gave me a quick smile and kept walking past, straight to the smith's house. He strode up to the front door with a purpose and pounded on it three times, then slowly took a couple of steps back until he was beside the fela, and then he waited. After a few moments the door was opened by an old dwarven lady, her hair was all grey and she was alot smaller, physically, but their faces were similar enough to be related. By now a crowd had begun to form around the duo by the smith's door, so I thought it safe enough to approach closer and find out what was going on, such excitement! As I wormed my way through the small crowd to get to the front I was just in time to hear the stranger proclaim to the old lady "Ma, ahm 'ome." The old lady seemed to have been struck a physical blow, she staggered back a step, dropped to her knees and began wailing. Tears streamed down her face, and it sounded like she was choking because she was crying so loudly. "Mah child, yah 'ome! By tha Gods ah knew yah were alright!" after which she went back to her violent sobbing. The stranger, Goroel, stood stone still, he looked almost surprised to hear the compassion in her voice!

RoleChapter 2 The return pt2 Added Sat Apr 11 20:04:07 2009 at level 51:As he stood there, taken aback, the elderly and yet still physically large smith strode out of the doorway towards his sobbing wife and the growing crowd. "What in tha bloody 'ells are yah sobbin' fer, woman? An what in tha fires o' tha forge ah yah all starin' at yah nosy gits? An who tha bloody 'ell are yah yah bald an ugly spikey lout?!". Goroel hesitated but a moment before taking a stride forward and proclaiming loudly, so that all might hear "Ahm bloody bein' tha Drillmaster o' tha village o' BattleRagers, ahm bloody bein' one o' tha Goddess o' Wars marked, ahm bloody bein' one o' tha strongest fighters these bloomin' lands 'ave ever seen, ahm bein' tha bloody beardless destroyer o' magic, and, yah fat, lazy, slow ass ol' man, ahm bein' yah bloody son!" It appeared almost as if the fire in the strangers eyes would jump out and cook everyone alive, his gaze was so intense! The fela standing just to the strangers side now had a large grin across her face, and a hand resting on his right shoulder, supporting and at the same time holding him in place. The smith stared long and hard at Goroel, the Drillmaster, his eyes never leaving the strangers face, and as he took a slow step forward he muttered under his breath "Mah son died to magic a long, long time ago, 'e was bein' weak." The strike came out of nowhere. One moment the dwarf was standing there, rigid and waiting, with the fela's claw on his shoulder and the next her claw was raised and he was a blur. His cloak billowed in the air as it slowly floated to the ground after falling from the dwarfs broad shoulders and his gauntleted fist flashed through the air to strike the smith square in the jaw. The smith flew back towards the house, in the air, to fly straight into the wide open door of the house that was resting against the wall. As his body struck the door it cracked and blew apart, absorbing all of the force of the strike. The crowd was stunned, the smith's wife was silent, the only person who had expected what had happened seemed to have been the fela, who now looked on as if this were the most important thing she had ever seen.

RoleChapter 1 The return pt3 Added Sat Apr 11 20:06:24 2009 at level 51:The stranger, the Drillmaster, the lost son, strode towards his fallen father. His spiked armor glistened in the sunlight from a combination of oils to keep it in top shape and from what appeared to be dried patches of blood. As he neared the fallen figure he stopped once more and just looked down at the crumpled heap of dwarf. A gurgling mutter could be heard over the dead silent crowd "Son, ah thought yah was bloody lost ta me. Ah thought tha worst! Ah thought yah was dead! Ahm, ah, ahm, ahm bloody glad yah back, ah've missed yah yah daft twit. Ah'd 'eard tales, stories an tha like, o' one from our city that was bein' a betrayer to 'is kin, 'bout one who was becomin' strong, one who was becomin' blessed by tha Gods 'emselves an each day ah 'oped it was yah, 'oped more'n anythin yah were safe. An after feelin' what yah can do, son, ahm proud ta say ahm bloody 'onored ta 'ave raised such a strong son!" A near silent snuffle came from the returned son before a grin broke out across his face. "Pa, ah got so much ta tell yah, so bloody much! But first o' all there's someone ah want yah ta meet. This 'ere, this is mah Lady, this is tha one who 'as mah 'eart, mah soul an everythin' ahm bein'. Ah'd like ta introduce yah to mah Lady Iunna." At the mention of her name a startled look came across the smith and his wife while the entire crowd took a hesitant step back, unsure on what to do. But before anyone could react Goroel continued "But before we be gettin' to tha catchin' up ah've got somethin' ta bloody take care o'. Pa, tha blade, still bein' in mah closet?" As the smith sat up, back against the wall for support, he nodded slowly and as he did so the Drillmaster strode into the house and quickly returned with a blade of which the likes none of us had ever seen before. It shined in the light, seeming to sing in anticipation as the air moved over its edges. "Ah'll be right back Ma. Pa, ahm goin' ta right a wrong that's been sittin' over mah 'ead fer so bloody long." The stranger strode past the crowd quickly, heading straight towards the palace. As he neared the open palace gates he raised his face to the battlements, to the ramparts, to the heavens themselves and bellowed with all the rage he could muster, all the anger, all the frustration he had pent up over his entire life "Put yah worthless magics down, 'uman, yah time is up, it's bein time ta bloody end this once an fer all! Ahm comin' fer yah, an this time yah tricks won't be doin' yah no good!"
