Crysseara the Redeemed, Angel of the Resolute

Description

This woman appears to be human by race, though looking upon her it seems
the blood of something else runs in her veins. She is astonishingly
beautiful, a type of beauty one might consider a gift from the gods.
She is taller than average for a human, with long legs and perfect
proportions. Her hair is a gleaming strawberry blond, hanging in long
curls over her shoulders and down her back, a curtain reaching past
her waist. Wide eyes of the deepest blue are set perfectly in her heart
shaped face. Her eyes are reminiscent of the sea at its most mysterious,
when the sun dances upon its waves and music can be heard within the
lull of its crest. Her flawless skin glows with its own pure light
of health and vitality, though you spot a few freckles scattered over
her cheekbones. This woman's easy smile and bright eyes evoke a sense
of kindness and life about her, a generosity of spirit one might consider
quite simple until they remember the mystery in the depths of her eyes.

Nature versus Nurture
Added Sun Dec 18 14:23:21 2005 at level 26:

There was once an elven crusader dedicated to bringing mercy and redemption
to souls tainted by evil. Though knighted as a paladin, he was more of a scholar.
He loved song and dance and all festivities. He was fascinated by races inherently
evil, and sought endlessly for a way to bring them into the light. He spent a great
deal of time in the Underdark, studying the dark elves, searching for what it was
that turned them so dark, and hoping to find a way to break that tie.

Generally, he was attacked on sight by the dark elves. He fought them relentlessly,
always searching for their strengths, always looking to find what made them tick.
One day he came upon a fierce dark elven priestess. She cursed his god of Mercy
and threw herself at him, striking and wounding him. He fought back, driving her
to her knees until she could no longer stand against him. Realizing she had lost,
she appealed to what she thought was his weakness, his mercy. She begged him
to save her. He granted her life, kneeling before her to ask her to take redemption
in the light, but by that time the poison she had attacked him with had seeped into
his veins, and he slumped over unconscious instead.

The priestess pulled her dagger to deal the final blow to the knight, but something
about him made her hesitate. She took him to her home instead, bound his wounds
and healed him. When he awoke to find her sitting at his bedside, studying him
intently, he thought he might finally be able to unlock the mysteries of the evil race.
They began talking, finding an oddly kindred spark between them. The elf tried
to study the dark elf impassively, but he quickly found himself in love with her.
Knowing he could never hold up his vows and be with her, he decided love was
more important. He fell, wed the dark-elf, and the two soon after had a beautiful
baby girl. They named her Crysseara.

Redemption in Blood
Added Sun Dec 18 14:30:58 2005 at level 26:

One day after the mother had told the child to go practice pulling the legs off
of spiders in the backyard, the father grabbed the dark-elf, shaking her violently,
trying to shake some sense into her. She hissed at him, striking him before
even thinking of what she was doing. The once noble elf snapped then, losing
the last bit of his sanity, and drew his blade, striking truly at her heart. In the
midst of his insanity, he realized he would also have to kill his daughter, to make
sure the evil taint did not spread. He found her in the backyard and attack the
confused little girl. She tried to run back to her mother, only to stop cold as she
saw her corpse in the kitchen. Realizing what her father had done, she quickly
grabbed her mothers dagger from her sheath, crying but ready to defend herself.
Her father raced after her, sliding and falling in the pool of her mothers blood.
He struck at the child and she barely dodged the blow, striking back and desperately
driving her dagger into him. He fell, and as he breathed his last breath his soul
snapped back to a moment of clarity. He whispered an apology to his sobbing
daughter and begged her to keep her faith in the light.

Guilt overcame the girl as she realized what she had done. She wept, she grieved,
and then she buried her parents in their backyard. She buried them together, in
each others arms, and sang a song of mourning over them.

Afterwards, Crysseara decided she must pay for the sins of her father, as well as
the sins she herself had committed. She had a duty to his last wishes, and a dream
to never allow another of the light to fall as he had. She found her gentle voice
and dark elven beauty soothed people and brought them joy. She also saw that
with certain notes she could cause great grief and harm. She devoted herself to
her penance, her dream and her duty, and as she learned more of the arts of the
bardic colleges she learned of the Acolytes of the Golden Sun. She studied their
mission, their devotion to hope and mercy. She decided to beg them to take her
in, for she needed redemption for her own soul as much as she needed to help
others.

Raised by Fallen Parents
Added Sun Dec 18 14:26:07 2005 at level 26:

The dark elven priestess came to truly love her elven husband, and tried to see
life the way he taught. They moved to the surface where she truly made an effort
to become good. However, it wasnt really in her nature. She would see orphans
on the street and decide to put together a band of slaves to build an orphanage for
them. She saw a man on the street stealing bread for his family, beat him and took
him back home to torture him to find out who he worked for, to make certain he
was no threat to her family. She saw a child fall off of his pony one day and break
his arm and she killed him quickly to put him out of his misery. The more time the
elf spent loving his wife, the more lost he became. He truly began to understand
why the dark races are inherently evil, both by nurture and nature.

Every time the elf saw his daughter, a wave of despair washed over him. She
looked very nearly identical to her mother, and he was terrified that she would
have the same evil nature. The mother did not make things any better with her
ways of rearing a child. The dark elven mother did not really see anything
wrong with being raised as the dark elves are, and so raised her child in more
or less the same manner. Occasionally as an afterthought she would realize
she had just taught her child to do something particularly evil, and would tell
the child not to do things the way she had just been taught. The result was a
very confused child.
