Description

Before you stands a svirfneblin male of moderate height, as the people of
cragstone judge it. His skin is completely white underneath his clothing,
and the parts that are exposed are marked with sunburn.It is easy to see
why he is clothed from head to toe. His clothing is plain, but he has taken
great effort to make it blend in with the natural world around him. He
carries a multitude of weapons as well as a shield. Under the brim of his
headwear you can see curious eyes that take in the world around him. The
edges of his eyes are red as if he has recently shed tears, or perhaps he is
on the verge of shedding them. As you look closer you notice that...

Chapter 2

A call to action!

Looking about you notice that you have come to a large natural outdoor
amphitheater in a hollow valley. The seats are logs that have naturally
fallen to the ground. Down in the middle of the valley a small figure
stands. His voice booms as he addresses a crowd. The crowd appears to be
made up of all sorts of figures. You can see elves, giants, gnomes, arials,
felar, humans, and curiously enough a number of woodland creatures. Even
some elusive pixies, brownies, and dryads hang out near the edge of the tree
line. You settle down with your back against a fallen log and listen
attentively.

"The land cries out for our help! She groans under the weight of the cities
that our ancestors so hastily built upon her bosom. We cut down her hair and
used the logs to build our homes. We have taken from her tears and skin to
make bricks. We have stolen her finger and toenails to build grand walls to
shut her out of our lives! Can you not hear her crying out for healing? Oh
Galadon, Do you not see? Can you not hear her calls of love trying to reach
you through the bustle of the crowd? People of Arkham, do the birds not fly
above you and cry out her anguish? People of Voralia, can you not hear the
cries of the wolves in the mountains so nearby, or the fish jumping in the
river under your bridges? Oh People of Thera, long have we harmed her, long
have we turned from her loving embrace!

We have sat by while the dwarves and duergar have mined her riches for their
own gains. We have sat and watched as abominations have been bred from the
pure to form orcs and Minotaur. We stand idly by as the conjurers bring
forth demons to wreak havoc in a place they dont belong. We watch in
perverted amusement as necromancers bring forth the dead to dance upon their
whims. We sit on our hands while Liches and Anti-Paladins try and steal
pieces of people to use for their own ends!

I beseech you, friends of the wild, we must stand against this!The ancients
awaken and cry out for bloodshed! The mother cries out for healing! Join
with me and let us bring back the days of Thar-Eris. Join with me and heal
the wounds the foul have created. Let us tear down the cities and return her
jewels to her! Let us put an end to the unnatural things that walk these
lands and torment their tormentors!

Oh Galadon, Listen and hear! We come for you with axe and shield to lay
waste to your precious walls. Citizens of Arkham, the birds will peck at
your eyes and sharks shall feed upon your vileness! Voralia, repent of your
ways, or you shall find the wolves among you again!

The mother cries out for healing, join with me and bring it to her! Let us
show our love for her by bringing about the return of Thar-Eris! Let us wash
the wounds she has suffered with pure water!"

As the small Svirfneblin steps down from the stump he was on a great roar
rises from the crowd. Drow and Elf stand up together and raise their weapons
in salute. Giants look to one another through centurions of hatred and heft
their axes and their shields. A great understanding that the time for
infighting will come when the lands are healed once again settles upon the
crowd. Even the pixies, brownies and dryads look more determined as they
turn away from the gathering. Perhaps this small figure h

Chapter 1

The Past That Haunts Him

A mighty wind blows out from the northern reaches of the mountains, down
through the valley of the elves, and on into the Great Plains of Thera.
Birds cry out in joy as they circle higher upon the will of the wind and
leaves rustle from its force. The branches of the willow tree sway but do
not toss Erowan from his resting-place. Instead he dozes as the winds whip
about him and unconsciously pulls his garments closer. As he slumbers on his
face begins to pale and he begins to grind his teeth. As Erowan tosses and
turns you find yourself drawn to whatever is going on in his mind.

*flash*

Your eyes focus as they open on the scene around you. You try to blink to
see if what is happening is really real, but you realize that you are not
controlling your view. You find yourself trying to become familiar with
what you see and you realize you are looking at a scene from the Underdark.


A party of Svirfneblin are walking the caverns of the Underdark looking
closely along the walls for signs of mining by the other species. A couple
walks very closely their hands touching the cavern walls and floors as if
feeling the pain they have endured. Trace amounts of mithril ore can be
found on the floor and large ruts from the wagons used to carry it. The
couple looks at one another nearly in tears as they survey the room around
them. You try and shake away the feeling but you notice the eyes you look
through have become cloudy and a salty discharge leaks from them. Crying,
that is the sensation that must be going on in this young svirfneblins head.
The couple turns and looks back at you and quickly comes and lifts you up.
They grab you close and you seem to hear soothing tones coming from them.
Behind them a dark figure moves along the wall and actually makes himself
perch against the ceiling of the cavern. He is hard to see but clearly feels
at home in this environment. After a few more moments of soothing tones and
closeness with the couple you are gently placed back on your own two feet.
Or...well, the two feet that are being controlled by some other body that you
are getting a vision through.

Having turned their attention back to the caverns about them the couple
continues to move along looking at the damage. As the couple moves deeper
within the cavern a loud commotion can be heard from many sides. Figures
slightly taller than the couple comes running out from branches of the
caverns wielding pickaxes and poles. They attack the couple and the party
that is with them. You begin to scream out in terror when a hand is quickly
place over your mouth. You are quickly elevated up to the top of the cavern
and held in place by the dark figure. Again you begin to hear low soothing
tones. The eyes you are looking over begin to cloud again as your vision
comes to rest on the lifeless bodies of the couple who had held you so
tightly just moments ago.

*flash*

As you blink away the tears your vision is wrenched away from the terrible
dream that you just witnessed. The wind once again whips past you and your
vision of Erowan becomes cloudy.
