Faistir the Wrath of An Immortal, Blood Servant
DescriptionThe man before you is about six feet tall with a build slightly less muscular than the average person, but also looking slightly more lithe. He is dressed almost entirely in white, but wearing black, red leather-tipped gloves. His complexion is so pale that you can barely tell the difference where his clothes end and his neck begins, looking as if he has never seen the light of day. The white of his skin makes the dark color of his eyes and his long raven-black hair stand out in sharp contrast. Looking at his pale lips you notice that sticking out from his mouth appears to be a long fang, extending to the bottom of his lower lip even with his mouth closed. His face is somewhat angular, and he overall appears very handsome. Around his neck he wears what appears to be a large glass vial containing blood, with an ornate crystal stopper that, while clear, reflects the color in the vial into beautiful, varied shades of red. At the bottom of the vial you see what on close inspection appears to be an eye, slowly swirling about in the dark liquid, never stopping or slowing.

RoleChapter 17 A Beautiful Thing Added Sat Jul 26 13:39:40 2008 at level 1:To many, the birth of a child is a beautiful thing. Few would consider his birth beautiful. The night was filled with her strangled screams. It was only after numerous hours that the midwife discovered that the elf's hips and birth canal were to small for the baby, but the small village they lived in was without a surgeon. The midwife attempted the caesarean section, but botched it severely, severing the vagus nerve and multiple arteries, leading to massive blood loss. Her death was not in vain, however, the child pulled out from the crimson pool, drenched completely in blood, was alive and healthy. But while he was breathing fine, he did not cry at all, his eyes were wide open, and he appeared to be happy.

RoleChapter 16 Good Intentions Added Sat Jul 26 13:40:59 2008 at level 1:After his wife was buried, and his child was out of the care of the midwife, he found that his new baby, the last remaining piece of his lost love, was inconsolable. The baby cried night and day, and the screaming and impotence the father felt at being unable to do anything for it, after being unable to do anything for his wife, was wearing on his mind. Eventually it came to the point that he could no longer deal with his child and decided to go through with his plans earlier. As his wife was lowered into the ground, he vowed that his son would become a surgeon, that no one would ever have to suffer the pain he felt again. So he set off to find a surgeon that would take in his child and teach him. He had the best of intentions.

RoleChapter 15 The Journey and the Doctor Added Sat Jul 26 13:41:40 2008 at level 1:The father traveled with his baby, who somehow became very calm and docile during the trip, to what he knew was a much larger village, which he knew had to have multiple surgeons living there. After getting directions, it was the very first surgeon he went to that agreed to take him in. The man was kind beyond measure, with a smile that seemed to emanate light, and a voice, the father believed, that could calm a stampede. The man invited him in with an arm around his shoulder. The father's last thought before the injection was that this man will be the perfect teacher. He was right.

RoleChapter 14 The First Surgery. Added Sat Jul 26 13:43:05 2008 at level 1:The baby watched its father being strapped to the table with what looked to the doctor like rapt attention, barely even blinking. After the father awoke, the doctor began. He intended a very simple skinning, not the most interesting, but it was among the most bloody, and therefore would be the most stimulating to the baby. He set a basin beneath the drainage funnel in the table and began. Eventually, after hours of exhaustively slow bleeding, the father died. The doctor collected the last of the blood in the basin, and then bathed the baby in it. He wished it to be stimulating enough to be his very first memory. It was his second.

RoleChapter 13 Doctor and Child Added Sat Jul 26 13:43:57 2008 at level 1:He witnessed hundreds of surgeries growing up. Some proper, good surgeries for the sake of image. Boring, he would say each time. Many, many more of the fun kind. The doctor had raised some other children, but none of them had the same interest this one did, and so, unbeknownst to the child, he let him live. He insisted on looking into the victim's eyes three times during the procedures. When the victim was first strapped in, when the procedure began, and as the victim died.He claimed those were the only times you could see their soul. He would talk constantly about this, about seeing the beauty of their soul at these times. It was fascinating to the doctor, for he looked as well but saw nothing. Otherwise, the boy was pretty normal. He learned all the lessons extremely quickly, how to put forth a kind demeanor, the importance of hygiene etc. The child's looks helped a great deal, but for one flaw.

RoleChapter 12 Physical Beauty Added Sat Jul 26 13:44:45 2008 at level 1:There was an odd physical characteristic to him. His right canine was extremely long, and could be called disfiguring, as it stuck out of his mouth, hanging their thick and ugly looking. The doctor finally agreed to fix it after much pleading from the child, and took him to the "good" surgery room, to file the canine down, sharpening it down to resemble a long slender fang, as it would have been unsafe to remove or completely file down. The doctor was extremely satisfied with his work, and made the boy handsome again, now with an interesting feature, rather than an ugly one. He decided he should start calling him Needle. Not very clever, but he thought it was funny, and the child didn't seem to mind. He then decided it was time to put him on the real table.

RoleChapter 11 On the Table Added Sat Jul 26 13:46:26 2008 at level 1:The doctor lead the child into his torture chamber, quickly grabbed and overpowered him, forcing him onto the table. When the last shackle was put on, the child became wide eyed, the look of horror was exquisite even to the doctor. The doctor let him lay on the table for quite awhile, the fear only building in the child's eyes. And then...he released the shackles. The child stared at him, no longer in horror, but in astonishment. "Why did you release me?" "Because I wanted you to feel the taste of fears. Consider it your last complete lesson from me, from now on, you will be performing the surgeries."

RoleChapter 10 Child Doctor Added Sat Jul 26 13:48:04 2008 at level 1:He remembers vividly his very first surgery. After the doctor strapped the victim down, he explained that he would not be the one to torture him, and that this child would be, and it is his very first. "I will not interfere" he said. It was funny to the child, for the man looked relieved, that his death may come swiftly from one who is inexperienced. There would be no such luck. However, the look in the man's eyes upon the first incision was occluded, and he could not see the beauty of his soul in terror. This gave the child an important insight, when considered with his time on the table. It is not the truth of the situation that matters, only what one perceives to be the truth. This could be used. The surgery lasted a very long time, easily as long as any of the doctor's. His future surgeries would only go longer, and be infinitely more brutal, for the doctor was not the most creative man, and the depths of terror can only be reached by one who is truly creative, and truly inspired.

RoleChapter 9 Added Added Sat Jul 26 13:50:52 2008 at level 1:Missed the last part of last chapter, sorry
It was after his first surgery that he made his first painting as well.He painted one of the many procedures that he witnessed. The doctor thought it amazing that he could just pick up a brush and paint with such precision, and as with his surgery, he could only improve.

RoleChapter 3 Descending Added Wed Aug 6 19:30:45 2008 at level 41:In these last twenty eight years he has served his Queen he has opened up a part of himself that he always knew was there. As he channels the Will of Lady Eshval he feels his blood cry out for the blood of others, and it pains him. The pain comes not from the desire, but from his inability to satisfy it...his weakness as a conduit for Her Will.
There are so many that oppose Her, so many that attempt to do Her harm by slaying Her mortal conduit. Fools...all of them. He is learning...growing as his desire grows. However, he does not actively seek them out often. His life is his Queen's, and he wishes to make Her conduit stronger. He seeks his own mortal bounds, and to surpass them, that he may please Her.
He recalls his first meeting with Lady Eshval. She asked him if he had anything to offer her. It did not occur to him then that his vial, his collection of trophies, taken while fear nearly passed into death, may prove a suitable gift for her. But not now, for it is still too thin. One hundred sixty two drops, one hundred sixty two surgeries, one hundred sixty two trophies. He hopes that this may prove a drink worthy of Her when he has gathered enough.

RoleChapter 8 Growing Up Added Sat Jul 26 13:51:41 2008 at level 1:There were hundreds of surgeries he performed, each more brutal, more horrifying, and to him, more beautiful than the last. Each one was a learning experience, further insight into the soul. He experimented constantly, with new ideas for every victim, for what does one learn if they keep doing the same thing over and over? There were only two constants in his methods, the way he began the experiment, and what he did at the end. Just before the victim's death, he would use his tooth, his fang, to take a drop of their blood and place it into a glass container he wore around his neck. He never left the home of the doctor since the day he was brought in, so he never learned much of the outside world. He defined his existence within the beautifully terrified eyes of his victims. Eventually, after two decades of watching the child perform surgeries, the doctor, having grown quite ill, decided that it was his time to go on the table.

RoleChapter 7 The Doctor's Turn Added Sat Jul 26 13:54:19 2008 at level 1:The child awoke to find that doctor had strapped himself onto the table, save for one arm, as he knew the child enjoyed doing that himself. But this would be different. "Child, the time has come for me to die, and I wish it to be by your hand. My eyes have seen many terrible things. I have seen endless suffering, I have seen torment, I have seen impotent rage, and the ghosts of all my past victims float within my vision. But I have forgotten the taste of fears, of suffering, and despair. I wish you to show me them again."
The child spoke no words, he simply strapped down the doctor and began his work. Before the end, amidst the delirium and pain, the doctor once again knew exquisite fear.
When the doctor was dead, instead of taking a drop of his blood, he removed one of his eyes and placed it within his necklace, that the eye may see forever the terror he inflicts upon the world.

RoleChapter 6 Beyond the Doors Added Sat Jul 26 13:55:10 2008 at level 1:With the doctor dead, the child knew he would finally need to leave his home. The doctor had told him of the Gods, mostly of Lady Eshval, for he said it was likely She who inspired his ability to inspire terror, and that he should one day seek her out, to pay her homage, and learn from her. So he decided to do just that. He knows next to nothing about the world, only what he learned from the doctor, so his path will be long. The doctor told him that his abilities and preferences most resemble that of a shaman, and so he will travel first to the Academy and learn what he can there before he seeks out the Nightborne Queen.

RoleChapter 5 Role Cliffnotes Added Sat Jul 26 13:56:25 2008 at level 1:I apologize for the length of his role.
First memory is from first being born, remembering the blood upon him, second is being bathed in the blood of his father by the doctor.
Had a big ugly tooth but was filed down and sharpened into a long fang.
Never left home until after the doctor died (and character creation).
Doesn't know much about the world, but is eager to learn.
Seeks Lady Eshval because he feels She is the one who inspired him in his surgery and art, and is the only way to become more proficient in bringing more terror to the world.
Sees beauty in the terror, pain, and suffering of his victims, that these things open the window to the soul within the eyes, and therefore wishes to bring more beauty into the world through these things.
Wears a vial around his neck with the blood of his victims, one drop from each taken with his fang, with the doctor's eye on the bottom.
Doctor called him Needle after he sharpened the tooth, so he took it for his last name to honor the doctor.

RoleChapter 4 Really really graphic, torture scene Added Mon Jul 28 22:44:23 2008 at level 22:Okay, this is really, really, really graphic. I was trying to hold myself back while writing my role for this character, so this role is mostly for my own self indulgence. I spent a long time pondering what would be creative torture methods, and how my character might think. I am reminded of, as I write this, the quote "A supernatural source of evil is not necessary, man alone is quite capable of every wickedness."
So please, if you don't like this stuff, don't read it.I just thought Lady Eshval might like it.
His first incisions were how he always began, two long incisions just on the inside of the nipple, starting at the top of the pectoral and going to the bottom rib, one on each side. He then reached down and grabbed the flap of skin and pulled slowly. He always wanted to see exactly how long the victim could hold his body up off the table with his wrists and ankles shackled. He would hold the skin at the peak for as long as it took, usually not very long, and then once they lost their strength, they would lower back down to the table, ripping the skin further.
He would then sever both Achilles tendons, watching the victim's face very closely when he cut the first one, as the look of terror and loss upon their faces when they realize they no longer have any chance is the sweetest of nectar. Then sever the tendons in one or both wrists. He could always tell if the victim was a kind of craftsman because the same look would pass over them again, knowing they could never again ply their trade. If it was not for this look, he probably would not bother, as a severed muscle or tendon does not hurt very bad, relatively speaking.
He would often mock his victim by unstrapping the now useless arm and putting a knife in the hand, knowing that the victim could not grasp it. He always liked to see if they would attempt to attack him with it, only to have it slip out of their hand, or if they would know they could do nothing, and shake it off.
He then put onto his victim one of his favorite tools. It rests upon the eye socket, strapped on like an eye patch. It has a blade that can be made longer or shorter to adjust to the specific victim's face, and sits as close to the eye as possible without cutting it. Thus the victim must hold open his eye, lest he slice in two his own eyelid. Once the pain of the dryness becomes too much, and the blade cleaves the eyelid, it is easily removed and placed over the next eye.
He used to like to watch the victim struggle against the inevitable, but later realized that the victim suffered even more when they could not squeeze shut their eyes while being tortured in other ways.
After they had destroyed their eyelids, he would unstrap one of the victim's arms, and tie it to a rope hanging from the ceiling. He would explain that the rope was connected to an igniter for flame placed just under the victim's foot. If the victim kept his arm up in the air, which requires no effort, he would be fine, but if he were to fall asleep, his arm would droop and ignite the fire. Thus the victim would have to stay awake. He would then leave the room for hours, letting them bask in their own misery.
He would then crack the victim's rib under both arms, making breathing an agony, but possi

RoleChapter 2 Understanding Added Sun Aug 10 01:09:27 2008 at level 44:The words of the Knight of Dark Jewels have played over and over in his mind.
Faistir, She sees you and all that you do. Now you shall go, and contemplate the use and application of terror.
The use and application. He considered this for a time in and of itself but could not come to a true conclusion. So he instead considered himself, his own flaws, ideas. The Knight seemed to mock his statement about logic, so he started there. What is logic? The doctor told him that all things work under some logic, even if they appear insane at first, and that there is no exception to this rule. But there is a logic to the world, an objective set of rules that we must abide by, because all men do. He looked into the eye within the vial, and it looked back.
He said aloud: I am not all men. I should not be bound by what the muck of the world must abide by, they should abide by MY rules, by MY will, by Lady Eshval's Will. She dictates the rules, the law, if gravity does not please her for a day, then all should fly. Logic is meaningless then, when you have the strength and will to make the rules. The subjectivity of the world will be made to be my subject.
His heart swelled with confidence, for it all seemed to be becoming so much clearer. The strong of the world do not fear death, it holds little terror for them, so how will I bring them terror? I will subject them to my will, to change all the rules, show them the glass they tread upon is so very thin, and they will at any moment plunge into a beautiful darkness, and then they will know terror. As I once toyed with their bodies, I shall learn to toy with their worlds.

RoleChapter 1 Confusion and Duplicity Added Tue Aug 12 00:39:38 2008 at level 47:He wonders now if his realization of his Queen's actions is truly the extent to what the Knight wished him to understand. He feels so much more confident now, but still he feels a sense of emptiness, and worries if he is going the wrong way. He spends every waking moment considering what he could do to be a better follower, to serve Her better, and he is scared to death it will not be enough. He has considered the words of others as well, their interpretations, asking from what he considered great minds, to those he considered fools. He feels he was a fool as well for thinking he should be approaching Her in looking for the Court, he assumed She Willed that he find further understanding of Her, and then seek the Court.
He feels a strange duplicity. Regarding Her, he feels he is such an incompetent worm, wandering blindly, but to others, he knows he is superior, that they are just there to aid him, or else be fodder for his learning. Either aids him he supposes. His heart swells when he is among others, for he knows exactly how to bend them to his will, which is simple, as they have the same goal, he knows it will be far more difficult when they have their own ambitions. He has been quieter as of late, however, for his inner turmoil occupies his mind. His mind is focused entirely upon Her, and how he can change himself to be more worthy. Were it Her Will that he cut out his heart, or leap from the highest peaks, he would be cursing his legs for not moving quickly enough to do so.He only hopes that he walks the path She wishes.
He does not want Lady Eshval to think him a fool for not understanding Her Will, but he also does not know what else he can do. He must harden his resolve, and pray, no matter what comes of it.
