Fretha's start.

From a classic Dwarven family in Akan, Fretha enjoyed the normal
female life. While cramped in back-rooms, hidden from sight, she and other
females learned how to drink, comb beards, fix clothing, forging, and the
most important thing as she was told, how to be a parent. From the moment she
began her learning, she was told that the only real learning that mattered
was how well she could rear a strong Dwarven boy.

Fretha didn't enjoy this hidden, motherly life-style, but she loved
order, organization, and structure. She took full advantage of the tidbits
of non-maternal learning female dwarfs were permitted and learned a love of
forging. While the other females were practicing maternal skills and
enhancing their potential for defending Akan and Mortorn, Fretha examined
weapons and armor, taking in all their kinks, advantages, and learning how
each was made in the smithy. She loved the order of how the metals combined
under heat, how the metals became malleable, the rhythm of the anvil
hammering out the metal into shapes, and how the shapes just seemed to appear
from nowhere.

Her love of order and structure further evidenced itself in her
attenuated observations of the Guards. Each dressed in fine armors, used the
arts of the Forge correctly, and protected the city. She found a close
relationship between the orderly actions she found in the Forge with the
Guards, and between those and the structure in her own life. This thought
excited her - the potential of the harmony between all of these elements
- and she held this thought near and dear in her heart. Fretha aspired to
work with these Guards one day, even though Dwarven women weren't allowed to
engage in such work.

As she came of age, her absent father decided who Fretha would marry,
Tregun of the Throne. Talk about tradition! Treguns family was known for
belonging to the special Castle-Guards assigned to the King; his family had
guarded the King for generations. The marriage was fast and simple, as a
child needed to be conceived before Tregun left for training. To everyone's
dismay, Fretha was unable to bear children. According to Dwarven law, Fretha
was disowned by all, after which the elders shaved her beard and scalded her
skin so that the beard could never regrow. The Guards themselves carried her
from the City, casting her near Voralian.

Fretha made her home in Voralian, until she made her way to Galadon.
Fretha was sad initially, considering her defrocking, but secretly harbored
happiness, hoping that her separation from Dwarven tradition would afford her
the opportunity to become a true mistress of the Forge.In Galadon, Fretha
befriended a blacksmith, who had a shop near the market square.She
apprenticed for him, and learned the forging skills she had always desired.
One day, the Provost Siloreelo visited the blacksmith, seeking a special
dagger.While there, the Provost met Fretha, and told Fretha to report to
the Blood Tribunal courtyard for an interview.

Frethas interview went well; Siloreelo immediately recognized
Frethas love of order and desire to use that love of order in all facets
of her life. Fretha became a magistrate, and recognized the opportunity it
presented. This role allowed her to use her love of structure, and permitted
use her forging skills to sup
