Mereacon Ma'Ylor the Weaver of the Elements, Negligent of Duty

Description

The only thing separating the otherwise average half-elf invoker is his eyes.
The aura that emanates from him seems to come from the pair of blue spheres
embedded on his face. At the same time, sadness is present. Sadness, as
though he has seen all the misery in this forsaken world. But the expression
disappears almost immediately, as it is replaced by the walls that separate
him from the world he tries so hard to shun. Greeting those around him with a
slight but respectful nod, he turns back to his own world, seemingly consumed
by his thoughts.

An Unwanted Nostalgia
Added Sun May 30 02:40:12 2004 at level 51:

Day of the Moon, 7th of the Month of the Battle.

His defense broke.

Unwanted memories from his past swiftly flew out of their containment for
decades, now freely roaming the insides of his head. The harder he fought to
ward them off, the more they invaded, ruthlessly reminding him of events that
he would be better off without.

He was an abandoned, probably a bastard child that no one wanted to be
responsible for. Left at the doorstep of a human family in Galadon, he was
merely a year old, his crying unheard amidst the heavy rainstorm of that
fateful night. He can still remember a man, shocked to see him in front of
his door, carrying him inside, although he couldnt describe him if asked
now. He can still remember the mans decision to keep him as a son of the
family, despite their racial difference. He is, after all, not purely human.

Most of all, he can still remember how he slowly degenerated into a loner,
not wanting to meet anyone, even though he cant remember the very reason why
it happened. Even when his stepparents both died of a strange disease that
caused them to bleed to death from strange pores in their skins, he felt no
sadness or remorse at all. What happened on that day, though, led him to what
he is now, for only years later that he found out the disease truly is: the
deadly crimson scourge. He did not know why he wasnt affected with it, but
it did not matter. Even though he cared for no one, he still sought to end
the spreading of this evil plague, which is why he chose to walk the paths of
an elemental invoker.

Alas, he led himself to believe so.

For that is not the true reason. When he made this life-changing decision,
his soul was corrupted with darkness. It was one of the desires for power,
for his young introvert self has attracted many who hates him, falsely
mistaking him to think of himself as superior to others. Often made fun,
ridiculed or even beaten, he said nothing at their actions, simply kept
quiet. But his heart doesnt say so. It rages for power, to crush every one
of those he despised to pieces.

Even now, he still isnt conscious of the blackness inside him. May he be
redeemed in the afterlife.

An Ethereal Curtain
Added Thu May 27 01:23:08 2004 at level 51:

Day of Freedom, 25th of the Month of the Frost Giant

How the world spins.

First his exhausting journey into the Octagonal Tower made him so fatigued he
couldnt remember about it for a few months.

And then his journey into Whistlewood Swamp with some others is advised not
to take place before it even started.

He couldnt remember who he listened to.

And then he survived an assault which odds are against him.

It was as though he had slept for a century and woke up, so many things
happening, yet he cant recall any of them. He almost felt as though the
unavoidable hand of death is approaching him, yet, at the same time, he knows
there is still more within his frail body. Images from his past flashed
across his mind again.

He could vividly remember his young self, never being able to feel attached
to anyone, not even his parents. He was a loner, and, through some perverse
emotions, enjoyed it. He was in a world of his own, and could care less about
the world around him. Only until an altercation with bullies did he realize
the frightening truth: that everyone, including himself, lives in a world
with others, and must learn to live with them.

His world crumbled.

Celebration Reprise, Mourning Repeated.
Added Fri May 21 23:26:29 2004 at level 51:

Day of Deception, 2nd of the Month of the Sun.

He fell again. And again. Mereacon found himself being continuously pushed
back into the realm of the spiritual, having fallen to his enemies. He had,
by chance, met his old friend Hyuga, but before the both of them can go on
adventures like times long gone, duty calls. He rushes over to aid fellow
Light members in vanquishing the Scions of the Eternal Night, and they had
been successful, defeating many evil ones. For a brief while, Mereacon was
satisfied that his efforts have finally bore its fruit, that he can be
stronger now. Alas, after a forced retreat, he found himself on the defending
end against six raged Scions. Fighting valiantly but failing miserably, his
first pang of defeat came when he found himself staring at the familiar sight
of Galadons altar, his body no longer with him. Within days, it would prove
to become an occurring trend, his life ended by foes with cruel methods.

Mereacon wasnt angry or frustrated at all, just...confused. His beliefs that
he would be near-invincible once he reached hero status have crumbled down in
front of his eyes, taking with it every thing he has believed in his whole
life. The more he thought, the more he allows insanity to take over him.
Knowing this feeling better, Mereacon snapped out of his reverie, willing
himself to continue on this path. As he stands up and walks on, brief images
of his childhood flashes across his mind...

A young boy, picked on by pure-bloods for his half-blood heritage...

A teenager, stepping into a guild of invokers for the first time, his mind
set...

A fully-grown man, taking his first journey into the wilderness, his eyes
expressionless, his face resolved...

Mereacon mentally wipes his mind free of these thoughts, and subconsciously
reminds himself never to make the same mistake again, never to choose the
wrong decisions.

A Celebration, and a Mourning
Added Tue May 18 23:51:05 2004 at level 51:

Day of Freedom, 18th of the Month of Winter.

Strangely, it didnt cause much excitement or satisfaction to him at all. The
half-elf invoker Mereacon felt strangely indifferent as always, even after
reaching the last rank, ultimately giving him more strength to protect than
he could before. Yet, the achievement seemed like an ordinary event to him.
He wondered what made him so. Was he drained from the immense journey he took
to reach this threshold, spanning over 120 years? Or was it the events that
he has gone through, the many deaths of those he hold beloved in his heart?
Or perhaps...perhaps it was of his early years, which memories he would
rather not have? Yes...that must be right. His past, long desired to be
forgotten, so many dark memories, which he had avoided for so long that he no
longer remembers the reason why. Maybe that is a sign that he has been
successful in trying to start over with a clean slate, but at the same time,
his lack of enthusiasm of his achievement proves otherwise.

How long has it been since he shunned himself from the world? From as far as
he can remember, he was never willing to reveal himself to anyone, and has
stayed that way until he is who he is today. Yes...that must be it. That must
be the answer he longed to find about the question he is facing now. And
maybe he should let it be, continue on like this. After all, what is the
point of making acquaintances if every single one of them will go, sooner or
later?

The Long-Awaited End
Added Fri Jul 9 00:47:11 2004 at level 51:

Day of the Sun, 34th of the Month of the Long Shadows.

Delirium, sweet, sweet, surrender. Its finally here, the last breaths of his
life long gone. Is this what he had been waiting for his whole life? Perhaps
he should soon find out if it is as promised as he thought. Finally, for so
long he waited for it, and now it has come to him. He should soon close his
eyes and go to sleep, not having to care about anything anymore, just
floating in limbo, his mind free of thoughts.

Darkness never seemed so good.

The Beginning of The End
Added Wed Jun 23 22:41:14 2004 at level 51:

Day of Deception, 16th of the Month of the Grand Struggle.

Something was different on his last death. Something...it is as though more
of his life essences are needed to send himself back into this world, and for
a moment he thought he had failed. It scares him, without a doubt, but it
also makes him ponder about this phenomenon. It wasnt long before the answer
struck him: he realized that soon, death will claim its mighty hand over him
for the final time.

Strangely, he calmly accepted that fact. He accepted the fact that his time
has come, that he would have finally succumbed to the dark. But another
resolves rises up just as quickly, his desire to do what he was born to do,
the cause that has spurred him on for so long. Looking for more time, he is
reminded of the stories that he had heard, of certain individuals being
granted such time by the Gods. Word has it that the gift doesnt come free,
that it is full of challenges. Is he worthy of such a request?

Revelation, Realization
Added Sun Jun 13 23:40:30 2004 at level 51:

Day of the Great Gods, 12th of the Month of the Dark Shades.

So his best friend is gone. Who's next? The world takes all he treasures away
from him. Perhaps he will be next. He can just feel the swift hand of death
mere inches away from him, gleefully awaiting its chance to engulf him. And
when that time comes, hel'l look at it in the face without fear. He'll look
into its eyes and tell it to take him away if Fate intends for him to be so.

The death of his best friend hit him harder than he imagined it would. Why,
why is it this way? Didn't he already set a resolve to not be affected by
mere emotions? Perhaps he was used to witnessing fellow allies fall again
and again in the field of battle that he thought eternal death would be the
same. How wrong can he be.

Perhaps someday he'll do something drastic, something he has never done
before. Perhaps someday he'll make a mark in this world that no one would
ever forget. Perhaps someday everyone will know his name for what he did, may
it be an act of bravery or stupidity. Yes, perhaps then, he would be
satisfied, when his inner desires have been fulfilled: his inner desires of
pulling himself out of this eternal limbo that he is trapped in.
