Past Mistakes and Shortcomings

Flistibbis really has two histories. One is what he tells people, the other is
the reality of his background. His actual background is one that he feels great
shame and anger when dwelling upon it. So much so that he created a lie so big
that he lives it every day.

The false background that he tells people is that he was captured by an evil
band of goblins and sold to a mage at a young age and was turned into an owl to
serve as the mage's familiar. He was able to escape and now he lives life day to
day as a strong warrior with a disdain for magic, he does various jobs day to
day to get by in Hamsah Mu'tazz.

The reality of the situation is that he was born to a family with a rich history
of magic in Hillcrest. He had several brothers and sisters who were very
talented, and a twin brother who had potential to be an amazing shapeshifter.
Flistibbis was no stranger to tussles with his siblings. Once it was discovered
that Flistibbis had zero magical ability he became the black sheep of his
household, though he is the one who distanced himself. He was a prideful little
young gnome. One day he and his twin were playing in the woods and they got into
an argument over magic. Flistibbis had years of pent up anger burning inside of
him that he unleashed upon his twin brother, killing him. He hid the body in a
creek below Hillcrest.

He would then run away from Hillcrest, very far. He had some very minor training
in combat from the Hillcrest Guard which he used (to great amusement) once he
settled in the city.

No longer a familiar (and no longer a sibling murderer) he began a new life in
Hamsah Mu'tazz, encouraged by the guildmaster to go into the great Academy of
Thera to learn the ways of the world and find his own calling. He has a
destructive nature when it comes to all things related to magic, as they bring
shame and anger whenever he is forced to remember his past and his stolen
future.
