Chapter 2

Life outside of Seantryn Modan

The wisdom behind his father's words quickly became apparent. In the first
village he tried to visit, young jade elves attacked him on sight. His
adventures would have ended quite quickly if it weren't for his basic training
as a warrior. The hard truth was he had learn to defend himself or he would
be murdered.

Not everyone was hostile though. It didn't take long for him to be offered
work. He enjoyed going new places, seeing new things, and getting some combat
experience. The pay was also much better than anything he got for delivering
ale. Perhaps most important, it was good for his morale to be met with
respect instead of aggression.

Making friends was tough though. People staring often made him feel out of
place. His Seantryn Modan accent seemed difficult for people to understand,
even when he tries to use very simple language. Worst of all, nobody wanted
to hang out with him at the bars. He was beginning to think making friends
was an impossible task... until he found the Eternal Star.

A place for drinks, food, stories, and brawling. This was the kind of
environment he could relax in. The head bartender even had a drink with him
and offered him a job. If there were any place he would be able to make
friends, this was it.
