The blind choosing not to lead the blind

Enhal learned at an early age not to share his unique perspective
with anyone. The first and only time he attempted it, he was
initially ridiculed. As he persisted, those he had attempted to
convince turned to violence to quell his speech. He was savagely
beaten. As the blows rained down, though, he could see it. Fear.

Not fear of him, nor of reprisal or consequences - fear that he
might be right. That their lives were truly as empty and void
of meaning as he had claimed. They were beating him to turn off
the nagging voice in their own head that said he might be right.

Bringing silence with violence. That was another lesson he learned
that day.

And now he lives on with a twisted, ironic sense of importance.
This life is a lie, and he is the only one that knows it. How
sane is the most sane man in an asylum filled with the insane?
How wise is the least foolish of a den of complete and utter fools?
So too does Enhal see himself. Least blind of the blind.

No longer does he feel any reason to share his 'gift' - this
inspiration (divine or otherwise) is his alone, and he will
keep it as his own.
