The inside of the Conjurer's guild was tidy, many ordered circles, depictions
of various creatures, angels and demons, and other somewhat unrecognizable
beings. It felt like home. It was the place he'd learn how to draw forth and
bind beings to him, they'd serve him, he thought. He spent hours and hours
learning the basics, weapon stances of dagger and axe, basic magic to form
small painful projectile-like missiles. It came pretty naturally to him.
Before long, he felt that he was ready for some adventure and he fought his way
through the academy, helping a few people who were clearly beneath him, just to
show them his majesty. But, then he left its' confines to pursue larger prey.

Outside of the academy wasn't much different from within, though the variety of
creatures he was encountering was rising at a phenomenal rate. Spiders,
centipedes, kobolds, goblins, each having their own anatomy, and their own
flavor. He couldn't explain it, but he found that after the one time his
hunger began causing him pangs and he decided to eat a few fingers of a fleshy
creature raw, he had a taste for it. Most of the creatures, he'd try a limb or
two, quickly learning what to eat, and what to avoid. Raw hearts are his
favorite, and he finds it troubling to let them go to waste, even those he
knows are poisonous. Still, he learned and progressed.

By the time he was twenty, he'd made his way to a middling title within the
guild and had went to study his most recently acknowledged magic, the
familiar. This was something that greatly excited him, it felt like an
eternity from when he'd joined the guild to then but once he uttered the words,
all seemed to fall into place. With the utterance of the last syllable, a tiny
imp fluttered up and landed upon his shoulder. He knew instantly that this was
the being that'd helped him survive, so long ago. Now, together, and serving
his will, they set out for further adventures.
