Chapter 6

Origin of the Schlade
Added Mon Feb 7 21:49:20 2005 at level 9:

Centuries ago, the battle for freedom began. Although the felar fought
bravely and fiercely, the battle was soon to be lost against the mages. How
can a felar survive the might of an invoker or foul conjurations? The mages
were wise, indeed, to give their once familiars a fear of water and fire.
The enemy was sure of its victory over the poorly led felar. It was within
this hopelessness of the felar that greatness arose.

Ten felar families arranged a meeting to create an alliance between these
most prominent families. Each family chose their strongest, best felar (or
fela) to attend this gathering. These ten felar, Schlade, Khalderen,
Seregon, Felagund, Nolatari, Miriel, Sirfalas, Aldarion, Eledhwen, and
Cuthalion, became the ten great generals, and through them great
accomplishments were achieved. Because of their ferocity and battle prowess,
battles were won, and eventually the might of the great mage army was
decimated. The mages surrendered and gave the felar their well deserved
freedom.

After the war, each general separated and went out on their own and came to
represent the ideals of felar society. Of course all mistrusted the use of
magic, but each had their own beliefs and way of life. A few became great
generals of the battleragers and sought to destroy mages wherever they
treaded. Others became destroyers of civilizations. No matter what they
represented or believed, all of the ten generals were the felar ideal and
their descendants were expected to follow in their footsteps and achieve just
as great things.

But the general bearing the name Schlade was argued to be the best of the ten
great generals.Ironically enough, this general was a female. She was said
to be the perfect blend of strength, beauty, and intelligence. She was
elected to be the leader of the felar army, and all other generals took
orders from her. It was because of her intelligence and skill in bringing
about quick death that the felar won the war. After the destruction of the
mage army, she set out and founded the felar villa, Tue Rien and sought to
destroy oppression that grand cities and magic bring about(or so she
thought). Her descendants bore the mark of the free, blazing sun(in the form
of bright orange spots of fur) and were to be the leaders of the villa for
many future generations.

All related to Schlade were expected to train years in the art of war and
exercise their minds in every way possible. Magic and cities were to be
shunned for they are a threat to the freedom of the felar. Bravery,
strength, quickness of mind were all expected qualities of her descendants.
It was said that those of the Schlade were one of the blade, always fighting
until their very last breath and dying day. It is centuries later when a
rather intelligent fela, even for one of the Schlade family, was born. The
future of this promising young fela is unknown, but perhaps she will bring
freedom to all that are oppressed. Time will only tell.
