Chapter 9

(NOTES) Middle Aged Progress
Added Wed Jun 22 05:32:52 2016 at level 36:

Quintalius has been a constant presence in the Spire yet
he feels like he is being intentionally held back by the
Provost, a Paladin of a hostile faith. He currently schemes
ways to obtain the power he believes he deserves (both in
action and in terms of birthright) without declaring open
hostilities to the present leadership of the Spire. In this
quest he has aligned himself with the other dark elements
of the Spire, most notably Velenkoth who like himself was
born under the stars of Reason and seeks a similar, stronger
Blood Tribunal.

In addition to Velenkoth he has made (or in many cases:
bought) numerous other allies in the Empire. He feels that
the thief Tanith, the Priestess Decima, the Priests Selszar
and Iarphine, both men of Reason themselves are all prime
candidates to join the Brimstone Society and he will begin
approaching them individually. He maintains a strong alliance
with the Empire as a whole as he fears he may be pushing his
luck in the Spire in his moves against Selionar. He sees the
oath as secondary means to accomplishing his goals should he
push too far.

To this aim he is very vocal about praising the Emperor and his
council as being the cornerstone of civilization. But deep down
he sees the Empire as subservient to the Spire. He sees the Law
as the true force of Order in the lands. His promises to bring
the Spire under the Imperial Banner are mostly hollow as he
envisions a world in which the Emperor will bend knee to the
Provost. A world in which the Provost is more than just a civil
servant but rather a King.

He has mastered every spell taught to him in his guild as he
pushes through toward his Becoming. This thought consumes him
night and day. He wil not let anything come between him and
his destiny: to rule Thera for eternity.
