Brexamir is from a long line of stone masons. He planned on following his Da
into the business. But more and more magic was seeping its way into all the
aspects of the work. Magic for mining the quarry. Some for moving and then
shaping the stone. Magic to speed up miners and help them get thorough their
day quicker. What would take twenty dwarves a day to do it now took ten.
The other ten would work another place, or it the quota was filled, they went
to the tavern. Some we're seen in the tavern quite a bit. The legendary
work ethic was slowly eroding. The songs that filled the halls while rock
and stone were worked, touched by dwarven hands, were gone. Magic was taking
the jobs and maybe the drive, slowly, from these dwarves. Aggressiveness was
high for those who were on the "speed" which, with dwarves, was eminently more
dangerous. The old was were eroding, tradition and the way of life being
killed by magic. And there was nothing Brexamir could do. No one would
listen to a young dwarf. He felt powerless.
