2005, Mage guilds learn a little about protection
Posted by Zulghinlour on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Syntax:
Invoker - cast 'weave of elements'
Necromancer - cast 'nether protection'
Shapeshifter - cast 'scales of the dragon'
Transmuter - cast 'arcane absorption'
Conjurer - cast 'planar ward'

With the help of the Archmage of the Tower of Sorcery, the mage guilds of Thera
have unlocked some of the ancient protective magics. Each guild has a spell
that will provide them some level of damage reduction that can be used once a
day. These spells are based on the same strands of magic as the shield spell,
found in some ancient artifacts, and you cannot have both at the same time.

I'm trying these spells out at level 25 instead of 35.

I have one or two balance concerns about this; we'll see how it goes and adjust from there. Overall my thoughts are:

1) Even the best mage PK builds at 25-30ish are usually much less common than, say, PKing warrior at those levels and

2) The duration on these spells is level-dependent, so at 25 you're still paying as much mana as you are at 35, but duration-wise you're getting less out of it. The recast timer also is fixed so, again, you're able to keep this spell up, even ignoring the mana cost, less at 25 than at 35+.
2041, Is there a certain level that we should go to the Archmage or just check every level? n/t

Not sure why you'd go to the archmage...
2012, Why exclude aps?

I know you can say they're not pure mages. Is it a game balance decision?

What level? Hopefully early to mid 30s.

Two thumbs up on this addition, much appreciated.

Yeah. They're the hybrid warrior/mage with a massive upside. They really don't need it like the other classes do.
2011, Thank you! n/t

Same % DR, and each class spell does it's own special bonus?
