171, Locate Object changed for 3 classes.
Posted by Valguarnera on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
- Paladins lose Locate Object and gain Blessed Divination. - Druids lose Locate Object and gain Animism. - Invokers lose Locate Object and gain Elemental Attunement.
All three of the new spells are more specialized, less powerful versions of Locate Object, designed to find only certain classes of objects which are more sensible given the backgrounds of each. This is part due to concerns about each of the three being too versatile, and we wanted to make a downward tweak in a way that wouldn't compromise their central themes.

I might be on the grapecrack here but it seems to me that in the past other classes skills were made STRONGER to make things balance out across the board. I am a big fan of actually making something a lot weaker. IMHO it lessens CF's already drastic learning curve for newer players. Dont know if that makes sense but good job.

Any plans to ease the level restrictions on locating, or make otherwise non locatable items locatable to those with the specific locates? Like, a paladin should find it easier to locate holy relics than a shifter with locate, so they can locate higher level items, or otherwise non locatable ones with their prayer?

178, Nope.

They're intended to be weaker variants.

wondering if your gonna make the items of cabals locatable by each of those classes? Would be kinda nice.

173, No intention of it.

You can ask your cabal's guardians if you need to know what you're guarding, or where yours is. See 'help cabal questions'. Yes, there are situations where this is less good than Locate Object.
It wouldn't make sense within the spell framework in any case. Telling druids "You can only locate living or formerly living things. Oh, and a transdimensional Ebony Scepter." is awkward.
