1376, Change to Cabal Raids
Posted by Kastellyn on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Having a cabal item in your inventory now blocks all forms of divine or magical transportation. You (or another member of your Cabal) will have to walk back to your own Cabal to down the item.

This will mess up how Orcs can raid a cabal immensely. If you can not give the Orcs an item it really ruins part of the fun of taking a cabal item. If you're an Orc and do not recieve the item what do you do? How do uncabaled characters raid now?

Drop it and pick it up?

1393, Good. Maybe they won't be last every week with Scion anymore.

No, they probably will.

Good.

You're kidding yourself if you're assigning those cabals some kind of underdog status based on the time they have or don't have their item.

What about flying for air shifters?

Still works.

Being summoned? Vanish?

Won't work.
1380, Cabal raids are 146.9% less cheesy!

Ragers, rejoice!

Seriously, good change. I don't know how it plays, yet, but this appears to open up some new and interesting defensive tactics. And for the aggressor - it's not enough to just plan a way in, now. You've got to get out, too. I can't wait to see it in action.
1378, Heh.

With this change, I'd like another change, to have nogive default to on when in a pk.

You can see where I am going with this.

Or perhaps, make it so you can only give cabal items of power to fellow cabalmates.

I've made it so you can only give cabal items to those of your own cabal.

1387, Yes, but if you're worried about it you can hold the item (n/t)

1398, One interesting consequence of this...
Posted by Daevryn on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
There's a lot more of a point to having sub-hero and even lowbie characters in your cabal.

This is both because a hero raiding against the odds can pass the item to a level 20 guy, and because the other cabal could have a level 20 guy to bash that level 20 guy.

I think most cabals over time have been gravitating more and more (and too much) towards higher level play only so I'm in favor of this consequence.
1399, Do low-rank characters skew toward majority evil?
Posted by Quixotic on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
And if so, how will that factor into this raiding dynamic?

How about making it so that retrieving your item places the item in your inventory as well, and you have to run it back to its home cabal? It should work both ways.

This might make lowbie retrievals a little more interesting.

Meh, I'm willing to leave it like this for now. I'd rather not see someone grab an item, run off to the far reaches of Thera and just drop it/squat on it until it crumbles like the old days.
