1338, Maran Power Update
Posted by Rayihn on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Maran powers have been updated!

Bow, scroll, wand, tasliman, scroll, and a shield have been added to Lightforge. A variety of offensive spells are available randomly on the wands, talismans, and scrolls. We're still kinda playing with this, may add some stuff later.

Maran Mages (excluding shifters) now lose Zeal and instead gain the skill "Fiera'rroga's Aegis". More on this in the Maran power book in the Fortress.

Enjoy!

So marans can make bows but hunter ranger cannot fashion bows?

Why cant ranger hunters just get the skill to make a bow too. It must be similar surely!?

Making a perfectly natural bow with wood and tools and what not probably isn't quite the same thing as calling upon the power of a holy artifact of goodness to create a mystical bow out of light.

I don't have a huge problem thematically with rangers having a fashion bow. I just don't think they need it. I mean, thematically I'm okay with transmuters having hold person again, but I don't think they need it, either.

Fashion staff, fasion spear.

He wants archer rangers to be able to fashion bow.
1358, Why not just give it to them...

But take away the ability to imbue it? They're already great tanks and it sounds like you just don't think they need an additional healing aspect while using the bow. So make the bow too complex to imbue or something.

Pretty sure it is easier than controlling the weather or setting up perfect traps that can immobilize 4-5 sentient beings. Just saying.
1360, It is from a ragerish perspective I guess

but most of the decent average bows are magic flagged. I had the master shortbow from area explore but it is a pain to get when it can be disarmed/stripped/entrapped/weaponbroken soo easily. Being able to fashion one with a half-decent average would make the ranger hunter a bit more complete as a self-sufficient bloke.

Seriously? How about we rename it, Fiera Aegis and then it's something we can all refer to without getting finger cramps?
1348, Your suggestion will be given the consideration it deserves.

Which is to say, none in this case. :)

Try playing a two handed paladin some time and do the templar defense moves.

It's really not that bad if you experiment to see how far you can abbreviate and get away with it.

I can type 'tem d hil' or whatever it was pretty fast for a hiltsmash, etc.

Wowzor!

Add a ~ 10 lb exotic to lightforge!

Awesome change.

I'll work on it.
1345, Heavy / Two-Handed options ?
Posted by Cassman on Wed 31-Dec-69 07:00 PM
Add a 'heavy' option to the Lightforge string ?

I think at this point the options are already great, having most all the weapon/hold types available, but... if you added an option to make heavier versions, maybe less Avg hit/dam, or something, but for those that need/want heavier weapons for various reasons...

Is there already an option for two-handed sword/mace versions ?

Summary:
'Heavy' option
Two-handed sword/mace version

2H paladins already get 2H swords and maces.

Other than that, we're not quite down to adding an extra option specifically catering to Trapping warriors here. It's a little niche. Exotics, other characters because Hour Past warriors might legitimately want to use. :P

Exotics. Other characters. Because. Hour Past warriors. Might want to use. Exotics. Because. LEGITIMATELY.

My good friend, three glasses of white wine wrote most of that post, and I took all the credit. :(
