There were 86 roles totaling 358 role chapters to read in this contest. The roles were all read and rated and then had their score adjusted down based on a formula that allowed chapters/level. Allowances were made for short chapters and long-lived characters, but you level 35 characters with 16 role chapters didn't stand a chance, even if you had a perfect score on the role.

Winners will get a note detailing their prizes, when I decide what they are.

You can get your scores if you email me after you character deletes. I have absolutely no interest in dealing with the bitching that will accompany some people finding out their scores and those of other characters while they're still playing.

So how does this formula work Adekar?

Roles could receive up to 10.0 and then had points removed from their score:

Final Score = Unadjusted Score - (((Character Level/13.5)+1) - # of Role Entries)

So a level 27 character could have 3 role chapters before it started negatively affecting her score.



I created the formula before the contest and probably would not make it so punishing to long roles in a true contest. However, this one was supposed to reward concise writing. I do feel like mid-range characters got the better end of the bargain, but I think that's due to people entering their "starter" roles and then powering to hero.

I didn't win, but this role formula thing I really like.

I have a feeling it is something that makes even your time reading all the roles worth it for the surprise of how things will end up.

I wouldn't say it made it worth it, haha. I spent way too much time doing nothing but reading roles during a time in which I'm kinda burned out already. But I'm glad it made some people happy!

I think the formula is a good thing to keep in mind for everyone anyway. If you want some imm to immteract with you, they'll probably want to read your role first. If you have 20 chapters that might be enough to dissuade them from immteracting in the first place.
