So I am a mariner, but was not affected by draw breath, or any
kind of water breathing, and I always thought you had to be to end
up in the whirlpool..then I couldn't move..log will show this.

On the Aryth Ocean
As you sail across this vast body of water, the wind seems to blow from no
particular direction making your navigational skills become distorted. The
crystal clear waves move with such a grace that you can never predict their
next move. The roaring sound of a whirlpool is coming from the south. The
ocean is endless, extending in all directions.

The currents spin you round and round plunging you into the depths of the
ocean. Things are moving so fast and the rush of water around your body is
just too much to even begin to make out directions. There is nothing to do
but ride the vortex of water to its end and hope you survive.

A larger male storm giant lazily swims by.
A larger male cloud giant floats here observing the sky above.

You can no longer hold your breath!
The world goes black as you feel yourself sinking into the water.
You feel a moment of doubt as you remove a small garnet ring.
You feel a moment of doubt as you remove a small garnet ring.
The runes upon a charred leather bracer shimmer briefly.
You have died, but the Carrion Fields are not finished with you yet!
Your soul is returned to the realms in the form of a ghost.
You will return to your corporeal state in a short while.
Be careful, for even a ghost should fear some dangers!

Not sure if it's always been like that or not, I do not recall.

Mariner's can go under water even without a water breathing affect.

I think his issue was not being able to go down with 14% movement maybe. Not sure though.

In my quick glance through the code...that is not the case.

For example, you can move into a non-water room, and a mariner can move between water rooms.

Pretty sure of these, anyhow. Certainly I fight shamen underwater as long as I'm able to flee to the surface when they dispel waterbreathing, in one step.
