Some items are no_rem but requestable, but others are not. For example, the longsword with a heron and the shimmering blade of water are both requestable, but retain their no_rem curse, so the mobs give them to you but when you wield it you cannot remove them.

Contrast that to the basilica where the perfect mace or whatever it is called is also cursed, but you get the "It's cursed, I cannot remove it" line from the mob when you request.

It doesn't make sense to have both ways, and, of course, I would think all such things should be requestable on a gameplay basis.

I post here to get the short answer that this is either a bug, and will be fixed, or that no, it's by design, in which case I'll move it over to the gameplay forum and ask why. :P
