Hello.

I've been trying to steal with my racoon without any success. Have tried it against animal mobs, sentient mobs, PCs all without success. Tried against low level little finger mobs, while mobs were sleeping, while I was invisible, tried stealing coins, gave them very light items and tried to steal it back. All without it succeeding even once.

All I get is "Damn scavenging animals!"

Even tried stealing during combat in the hope that that's how its supposed to work but apparently no too.

Took a good look at my racoon description and even tried sniffing at them before stealing. Nadir.

Is something wrong with my racoon's steal?

Nope. When thieves were revamped, steal in general was made harder. Racoons were not ignored in this, but they still have a decent chance to steal.
