I had a same thing with mantle of the phoenix while the ord was not at the altar. I 'lost concentration' (but advanced), and when I tried to do it again 'my cabal power wasn't there'.. I think this might be a similar case .. the first kotegashi that comes through, comes through, thus it doesn't work .. the laster kotegashi doesn't come through, so it does work .. if you can follow ..
