As a level 7 I was going to ysigrath and the swamp serpent was at the dock so I fled. I fled into the forgotten island area and died shortly after. When I went back to retrieve my body it said I was too inexperienced to enter the area. Shouldn't I have been prevented from fleeing in there if I cannot go in to get my body? Forcing someone to wait at the pit seems unreasonable.

Some areas stop newbies.
Some stop ghosts.
Some stop newbie ghosts.
You were a dead newbie ghost. So you couldn't enter. That's how it goes.
You also aren't forced to sit at the pit, your stuff returns to you *NOT* the pit.
But you can sit at the pit if you feel like it.
