Actual: You CAN... if it passes through someone else.
Repro:
Plague something. Stand in the room with it. You'll never get plagued.

Plague something. Stand in the room with it and a lot of other stuff... once it spreads, it can spread from the 2nd target to you.


Plagued the 'advancing' explorer.
Fled into the room with the 'patrolling' explorer.

Plague spread from advancing to patrolling, and from patrolling to me.
