If you had completed his task before the redesign, it's possible to
repeat it, and it shows up twice in the completed list.

When we transitioned areas, the design of that particular quest had us choose between confusing behavior on people that had started it (and a more confusing area 'transition' for the staff behind the scenes), or the possibility that you could repeat it. We went with essentially making the new version a brand-new quest, so it's cumulative with the old version.

Only matters if your character pre-dates the area update, so it's a one-off bonus.
