Cloud giants have natural fly but I still fall through the floor in barovia. Doesn't make sense with the echos.

The rotting wooden floor creaks ominously below your feet.
(My feet aren't on the ground)

You hear a loud snapping as the rotting wooden floor gives way!
You fall through the rotting wooden floor!
Falling through the air
You are falling through the air. Above you can make out the broken,
rotting, crumbling wooden floor, below you coming up rather quickly is
the cold stone floor of passage.



A statue-lined hall through the catacombs
A wide stone hallway stretches out to the north and south, deep below
the main floors of the keep. The air down here is damp and stale.
Through the darkness you can make out statues lining the hall, each
depicting a different member of the Von Zarovich family. A thick
layer of dust covers the floor, and large webs hang from all points
throughout the hall. The hall continues on in darkness to the north
and south. A stone stairwell circles around following up through a
hole in the rock, unfortunatly age has destroyed much of the stairway
making it impossible to walk back up.

And I get the boneshatter effect too

Then you must have been earthbound or somehow lost your fly ability. The check for flying has always been there.

For the record, I consistently get the "weak floor" effects wandering around in there as a solo arial. I figured this was for the same reason that caltrops affect fliers, but it might be a related issue.

I've never fallen through the floor, however -- I'm not sure if that's because I'm flying or if I just didn't stick around long enough.

I was still flying. I went right back up after I fell down.

Is it possible that the fly check is ignored if a non-flying groupmember triggers the fall? I know that I fell through the floor with two non-flying storm giant groupmates as an arial, then retreated up from the zombie.

I've recently run across something similar to this as well. Check to see if the svirf leads (and falls) if the flying persons follow and whack on the ground as well.
