Was fighting a cavefisher in the underdark and got a message
that said i couldn't get better at the nuances of nova because
a cavefhisher is immune, but it still did heavy damage.

Yes I have read the help file, that's why i am asking if it's a
bug. The cavefisher still took damage so it couldn't have been
immune to the damage could it?

Try reading it again. There's at least one sentence you're ignoring.

'SKILL IMPROVEMENT'
A number of factors go into determining the rate at which one of your
character's skills improves. The main factors are:

- Your intelligence (INT).
- The natural difficulty of learning the skill.
- Your level.
- Your age. Older characters learn more quickly.
- Your current skill. It becomes harder to improve as you get closer to
mastery (100%).
- 'Hostile' skills (weapons, defenses, things that cause combat, etc.) take
into account the relative power of your opponent. Fighting challenging battles
sharply increases your chance of improvement.
- Invokers only: Your affinity for the element you are manipulating.

Generally, the skill improvement system favors real use of a skill over cheesy
methods. For example, you can't learn anything (even while not in combat)
while wielding a weapon you don't know how to use or while fighting an opponent
immune to your attacks.

Please Enlighten me, Cause i have no clue apparently

There's the part we're talking about.

Nova? Not the attacks we're talking about.

I wished i had gotten it logged to show you. But yes nova
note the attack. I was using a dagger which is near
perfected. I cast nova @ cavefisher. Cavefisher is anhilated
by your nova. You can't learn the nuances of nova cause a
cavefisher is immune. That's what happened.
15926, Let's try this ONE MORE TIME.

If the cavefisher is immune to your physical attacks (e.g. dagger), you can't learn ANYthing fighting it.
