I reported this a long time ago, but it seems the nightgaunts are still quite bugged. This happened to me 90% of the time when I played a conjurer maybe a year ago. I bind it and it just follows me around, doesn't leave, doesn't attack the target. Just follows me. As you can see, it is still somehow targeted to the target, it's just not doing anything. It follows me when I flee and fades when the target dies. I think it might be some bug with neutral conjurers. I could probably dig up a few other logs from before if you want. I believe I could even group the nightgaunt before and it didn't leave when the sun came up.

The vague trail continues along the barren, dark side of the mountain,
circling and twisting around jagged boulders and treacherous cracks. No plants
can be seen around here, dead or alive, leaving the dark landscape completely
gray and dull. Now and then, the breeze blows a few clouds of mist down from
the nearby mountaintops, blocking your view almost completely, but they soon
dissipate in the wind. To your west the trail slopes down, not as steeply as it
does upwards of you.
