Don't show back up on the edge list the second time around, Extra Training, Devious Versatility, Extra Affinity, etc. I just happened to realize I had enough points for one of them when I tried discussing it and succeeded, lost my points as normal, it just hadn't shown back up since it was already on my taken list.
