I've noticed that a lot. Even in a pk fight on some elf bard that fled from Djabree. I didnt see if I melee'd after a typed murder elf.
Instead, i came out of the shadows, trampled, and saw that the bard had been killed. Just as it shows in this log.

Are you sure you don't have a #gag or broken #sub in your client? Can you repro this with straight telnet?
