As a beastmaster marshdweller, most things in Veran are not at home in the wilds creatures, so not tameable. Seems like one of the few places they should be able to tame. Even things that should obviously be natural aren't.
You could kill a nimble salamander with your little finger.
A nimble salamander is much smaller than you.
It looks just as disinterested as you.

Look around Veran a bit more. It's not a very pristine wilderness.
