As a solo druid leveling on 'lucky punks' my exp would vary widely and I think I figured out part of it. I had a pet (serpentine staff) and if the pet got the killing blow I got >200xp (sometimes close to 300) while if I got the killing blow I got <100xp.
I'm not sure if this was intended or not, but it didn't seem to make sense to me to have solo xp vary this widely with a class skill, hence the bug post.
