The reasoning is to make the thief paths more towards the way theywere designed. Most thieves had chosen a certain combination of skills that was intended to be impossible. Now it is. Finishing apath from start to finish has the same cost it previously did. And you can still choose to not finish it and work on other paths. Picking and choosing among several paths was intended to limit yourpossibilities greatly. Now it does.
