It seems that when I try to bash or trip while fighting PC's with a warrior, they always have plenty of time to run away. But when my slightly higher level mage gets bashed or tripped, there's complete command denial until death(there's time for my opponent to get in two bashes or two trips while I'm typing flee flee, and I don't have any other commands stacked).

How are other characters able to do complete command denial? Is the difference just skill %, or something else?

Thank you very much! If anyone else wants to chime in with more, please do so, but the RNG explains things a bit to me. Still, I feel like at low levels, there's some other mechanic going on -- maybe it's just that my mage doesn't use good preparations or needs +50 hp on each slot or something.

I made an account on that site -- hopefully will be reading it soon!

After being tripped(I assume that no cheap shot fires here), you always get in one command after the trip lag before your opponent does. If you are moving and have put in east that hasn't gone through due to movement lag before you are tripped, the command that goes through before his second trip is your unsuccessful east.

As for the Dio's account, I approved the new one I saw in the list.

Bash and trip:

Trip: ALWAYS does just under 2 rounds of lag. So if you get tripped in between rounds, you will get the next command in. However, if you were spamming directions when someone surprised you with a trip, your next command is going to be one of those directions, which isn't going to help you much!

Trip (as with anything that sends you to the ground) can trigger a skill called cheap shot. Orcs and some thieves have cheap shot. The echo for cheap shot is normally something about being kicked while you are down. If you get that, it adds a round of lag, so trip + cheapshot CAN permalag you.

Bash does 1 to 4 rounds of lag to the target (random), and the amount of lag it does doesn't depend on who is hitting who it with. Bash is, however, less likely to hit someone who is big relative to the basher, and more likely to hit someone who is small relative to the basher. But if there are 2 sizes or more of different, you can't be bashed. Other things affect whether bash works or not, like weight carried by the basher, a legacy etc.

Sometimes a lagging skill lasts a little longer than it "should". That's if, instead of going through in between rounds, if goes through at the start of a round. If that's the case with trip, for example, it'll lag an extra round (or at least, an extra amount of time just long enough to prevent you getting a command in 2 rounds later).

As always, don't take anything you read on Dio's as gospel, but there is a bunch of good information in this.

RNG, random number generator, can account for a large portion of perma-lag situations. Second is, mage fights don't last long if the enemy has the opening attack, typically. Bash lag is very variable, and success dependent on many factors. Just remember that as many of these fights you see going this way, there are equally as many where they fail.
