- Shapeshift spell mana cost reduced.
- Many shifter edges now have a prerequisite of 80% shapeshift.
- Leverage improved a tiny bit more; I would use this skill without hesitation as a large staff/spear spec and would use it situationally for other staff/spear specs.
- Poison Darts scales up to higher levels a bit better.
- Bramble Pit damage increased significantly, again.
- Bear Kinship bears are higher level and significantly more durable.
- Shattering Note (Piercing Dissonance edge) improved.
- Tsunami damage increased. Note that tsunami can deal some damage to drowning-immune targets. (This has been true for years but I don't know if anyone ever noticed.)
- Chill Touch and Lightning Bolt deal more damage than before at higher levels.
- Wheel Kick is faster if you know Mountain Storm Kick.
- Side Kick blocks one attack if successful (like feint/cross). Having Double Spin Kick improves it a little more.
- Scissor Kick is a little faster, works a little more, and lets the assassin take one extra attack the following round if successful. Having Rising Phoenix Kick improves it a little more. Probably it's still not good enough to use past the teens but it's a start.
- Flyto with a sub-tier-1 form lags the shifter less than before.
- You can't gate or flyto a player who doesn't trust you the first five minutes you're logged in.
- The shifter "fly" skill now is based on form skill rather than working 100% of the time. Malediction can impact it but even in the worst conditions its success rate remains very high, just not 100%.
- Flaming Arrow improved.
- Poison Arrow improved.
- Aerial Shot improved.
- Timed Attack helpfile updated to better explain what it does. Also, Timed Attack is quicker at lower Observe thresholds.
- Timed Attack (Staff variant) now provides an echo to the room when it prevents casting etc.
- Characters whose carried weight exceeds their current max carry move around marginally more slowly than other characters and spend additional movement to do so. This effect is slightly more pronounced on characters with low base Strength.
- We have started to track additional cabal raid stats based on the level of opposition you face in both raids and retrievals. This most likely will feed into edge at some point but does not yet.
- There is now a minimum level on exploration spots. For most areas, this level is 11. For some very lowbie areas, it's lower. For some high level areas, it's higher. The guy who begs any hero who will listen to drag him through high-end explore areas with each of his lowbies can maybe get some dignity back going forward.
- Teleport now correctly respects area-writer-set room flags that restrict teleport. This means you can now teleport into some places you couldn't before, and can't teleport into some places you could before.
- Each piece of rigid armor (materials such as metal, stone, bone, wood, glass, etc.) worn reduces the success rate of malleability slightly.
- Conditions that make sneaking impossible (e.g. Faerie Fire) cut the success rate of Gentle Walk significantly.
- Lifebind and Luminous Assault can be used in combat.
- Luminous Assault is more powerful, but has a short reuse timer.

This is confusing.
You can't use gentle walk at all while glowing. Unless this has changed very recently...?

Could you add the assassin kick details to their help files? Because I at least am bound to forget what additional effects they have. Oh and if you haven't already, this also goes for other skills that you've tweaked in a way that should be in their help files (I only looked at the kicks). Thanks!

WHEELKICK SWEEPKICK SIDEKICK 'WHEEL KICK' 'SWEEP KICK' 'SIDE KICK' (729)

syntax: wheelkick
sweepkick
sidekick

The basic kicking forms involve the primary leg being parallel to the ground.
The motion can be circular in the case of the wheel kicks and sweepkicks, or
direct as with the side kick. The art of kicking requires years of study. As
you progress in your studies, new techniques will become available to you.

The most basic kick assassins will learn is the wheel kick. Once this is
mastered, the sweep kick can then be attempted. This brutal kick to the
outside thigh of the victim is especially punishing when continued throughout
the fight. The final kick in this series is the side kick. Using a short
hop for momentum, the leg is cocked across the body like a tensed spring
before being released as the hop brings the assassin into range. When
successful, the side kick blocks one attack against the assassin.


To practice these at your guild, you must enter the full name of the kick
you want to learn, surrounded by quotes -- e.g.: practice "sweep kick"

SCISSORKICK MULEKICK 'SCISSOR KICK' 'MULE KICK' (733)

syntax: scissorkick
mulekick <target>

The two exotic kicks, scissor and mule, are the assassin's first entrance
into the intermediate ranks. Both require the stamina and confidence
that comes from reaching this rank. The scissor kick allows the assassin
to bring their opponent to the ground using their legs coupled with
gravity. With the legs wrapped around the body of the victim, the
assassin twists as they fall, bringing the victim down. This allows the
assassin to take one extra attack against the victim.
The mule kick is
against opponents that are fighting the assassin, but are not being
directly attacked in return. By careful positioning, the assassin is
able to kick backwards in a surprise attack against the person behind
them.

CRESCENTKICK AXEKICK MOUNTAINSTORMKICK 'CRESCENT KICK' 'AXE KICK' 'MOUNTAIN STORM KICK' (736)

Syntax: crescentkick
axekick
mountainstormkick

The next plateau for kicking lies in the crescent motion of the leg
perpendicular to the ground. The basic crescent calls for the foot to be
brought from the inside across the victim. When successful it can slash
through their defenses and disarm the victim.

The axe kick follows the first part of the crescent motion, but rather than
complete to the outside, the foot is instead dropped straight down on the
shoulder of the victim. Victims too large cannot be successfully axe kicked,
so the normal crescent kick must suffice.

The completion of this stage is the mountain storm kick. The crescent motion
is joined with a short jump. The result adds power to an already powerful
strike. Also, knowledge of the mountain storm kick improves the basic
wheel kick, making it faster to execute.

The double spin kick is one of the most advanced kicks, and should only be
attempted by assassins of high rank. The spin direction can either be
either inside to outside, or vice versa. The success of the second kick
is virtually guaranteed if the first one is landed.

RISINGPHOENIXKICK 'RISING PHOENIX KICK' (743)

syntax: risingphoenixkick

Mimicing the fiery phoenix rising from the ashes, the assassin facing
multiple foes begins a series of leaps. Similar to the mountain storm
kick, the assassin performs the rising crescent kick, but as time and
study have allowed, the leap is much more controlled. As a result, each
opponent fighting the assassin will be targetted with this kick. Also,
knowledge of the rising phoenix kick improves the scissor kick.

I'm not sure when this change actually went live, but I've noticed over the last week or so that I've teleported into guilds on a couple of different occasions, including a guild in Galadon and one of the Imperial guilds (which did have a guild guard present).

Seemed odd to me, and I didn't think that was possible before. But Paladins don't get teleport, so I don't have that much experience bouncing around like that.. maybe it's been doable all along.

Post a list of spots you land (guilds and such) to the bug board and we'll try and get them cleaned up. I suspected this was going to happen... teleport used to respect a bunch of flags, and now it doesn't, so a bunch of places have opened up (intentionally making the ability a bit more dangerous) for teleport, but some not so intentionally.

The code looks correct to me at a second read, and I couldn't reproduce this at all when I tried the other night.

I've added some logging to make sure it's working correctly. If it's not I'll adjust it.

Here are some of my recent observations on the fly changes. I don't think these are very biased but who knows, it might be. Still, I've definitely noticed them.

1) About 75% success flying when there is the presence of any malediction.

2) Fly rate seems to go down right after engaging in PvP, regardless of whether there are maledictions present or not.

3) Fly rate seems to be affected by maledictions that don't actually influence strength or dexterity, like bleeding, iceneedles (the -hp part).

4) At seemingly random times, I will get the 'You cannot fly to an enemy so soon.' echo, even though both I and the enemy have been logged in for a while, and neither one of us has died recently. I'd be able to flyto an enemy, see them from the sky, then a few ticks later, find them again, still see them from the sky, but unable to fly to them.

5) Failing to fly saps movement as though it were a successful fly. This means, at most, after several attempts, whether successful or not, I'm forced to land and rest for movement. Is it possible to remove or lower the movement cost of a failed fly?

6) The uncertainty of flying now makes using it to escape battle far more difficult than before, and the movement reduction on a failed fly makes it ultimately too risky to use in PK.

My expectations for this change were that sometimes during battle flying away and chasing could be hindered, but with the percentages where they're at now it's more likely that every battle will have an issue, whether it's failing to fly up initially to scout (moves being reduced to 50% sometimes before even in the air), fleeing from battle (failing to fly at this stage is very dangerous as movement is already low to begin with), or trying to chase from area to area.

could you look into hunter skills too?

poisonarrow and flamingarrow both seem to land the added effect so rarely. not only that but I've noticed where the skills actually tend to make the attack 'miss' quite frequently (when the non-effect melee round never misses)

timed attack is still so predictable, slow, and not worthy of a level 44 skill

aimedshot effects are weak

bait would be functional if it also lagged the opponent or did something more

i just realized this wasn't your gameplay thead, sorry about that.

Because they were pretty lackluster last time I played one.

Woo, enemy, stalk stalk stalk for 30 minutes. Got a net down. Waylay. Boom, nailed them...mother #### they just worded instantly. Glad I wasted 30 minutes on that .

Since last I played one:

You can imbue bows now, not sure what if anything they prog. Though there was a log a good while back of someone's bow progging for three free attacks. Unsure if that is imbue bow, an NPC bow, or something else altogether.

Rapid shot gives chance for third attack with bows.

Timed attack isn't as obvious when you use it.
