#79206, "Adelin is deleted."
Edited on Sun 26-Apr-09 08:44 PM

This was my second character next to Zaltais, but in retrospect i have had a few test characters to scope out the other classes, most of them where just rush to hero to see what they could do.

I've always played the ultra-offensive crusader type roles, so taking on an Acolyte healer proved to be a big test. I dont think i would of been able to learn the layout of the land as well as i did if it wasnt for this class. The Fortress is incredibly newbie friendly and being a healer with major defensives and gating is an immense boon.

I've been contemplating deleting for awhile now, lately i have found myself logging on and never really having anything to do. With all of Adelin's friends i knocked out all exploration pretty quickly on its been more and more just afk log ons for the last little while. The final ticker was accidently stepping on my laptop and breaking the screen. Chump move but what can you do.

I definately want to give another shot at the Fortress on the other Spectrum. I've been wanting to get into the Pk race for awhile now rather then just trying to outlast until i get bored. So that being that lets get into the goodbyes.

Corrlaan - I never got to fufill my idea for this character nearly as much as i wanted to. I am not sure if it was timezone differences or what, but it always seemed difficult to contact you. I know it is email for appointment, but i never liked the whole pestering people. I figure if your on your on, if not i will catch you some other time, it is a game after all and what is contributed is completely voluntary. Sorry about wimping out on the roles after awhile, put it off for awhile, and you seem to just forget all together.

Padwei/Unalethekai - As i said, the Fortress was incredibly newbie friendly and you two were responsive for much of my growth as a character, both with learning the game and the role i should be assuming. I tried to tag along with both of you early on as much as i could, even changing my playing time because i enjoyed your roles so much. You both bring so much to this game just by your mere presence. An absolute pleasure playing with you both.

Sarien - Next to Padwei/Una , you were another major influence with this character. Always enjoyed our adventures, raiding and hunting. I think you bring alot to the fortress with your character, I always regretted never being able to aid more. But as you said, i was always more fit for a maran, the class just never put much arm into pk.

Ailinilia - What can i say, you were my mirror image, where i was the maran, you were the true acolyte that embraced the role. Our interactions were always fun and it was great travelling around with you. I think in reality you saved my life multiple times, whether you realized it or not. Congrats on making Cardinal, you were far better for the role.

Nian - The last half of Adelin's life we didnt get much playing time together, but i really enjoyed your role. Congrats on making Elder.

Kasir - I think we were inducted fairly close to each other, you were around when Zaltais was, and i think i got Adelin in within a few days after you. Have to say, Was incredibly suprised with the tat and marshalling because in truth i thought it came out of no where. Not that your role was bad, but just that you were always so hidden and our interactions so limited that it escaped my notice that you were contesting for the spot. Though you were maraned quite early. Anyways great job with the character and offensive thief, when i look at that class i think it appears to be a difficult one to be a true force to reckon with on your own, but you seemed to pull it off with ease. Congrats.

If i put a quote to each character i liked i will be writing all night, so just a shout-out to all the new Fortress's members, i didnt get to interact with you all as much as i like, but alot of you seemed fairly interesting roles. Lortas, Flaire, Edika, Egrelam Jolindar, Dorr (Sp? sorry its been awhile). There is so many of you and i would like to thank you all for your adventures, its been a blast and thank you for helping me learn the game.

(Sorry if i forgot anyone in my younger times)

I said in Zaltais's Farewell i came from a mud called Solace. I have been playing that game for seven, eight years, and i have always neglected CF even as so many players talked about it on the forums. I am really glad i came back to mudding and decided to give it a chance because its really renewed my love in Mudding. See you all in the fields.

I generally liked this character more in the beginning than as things went on.
You started off not caring so much about gear and being more concerned
about people, but at some point I got a distinct powergamer feel from you
in terms of hunting for items. I don't know if this was just due to boredom
or your more aggressive nature. You definitely had more of a Maran feel
to me from the get-go. That said, I hope you come back on the other side
of the fence - something I think you might be a little more comfortable with.

Good luck!

I'll miss you, Adelin. You taught me so much about being a healer and you had such a sincere passion for being the more aggressive of the two healers. Sometimes I felt as if you just laughed at Ailinilia's very existence, but I guess that is part of her role. I felt you roll your eyes at her, especially during the whole Lortas / Sarien love triangle / pentagon (the other two will remain nameless) fiasco. Though I do have to agree with Kasir and Sarien a bit, you were quite stubborn, but it fit your role.

I am glad that Ailinilia saved your life a couple of times, and you are exactly correct, most of the time I have no clue what I am doing. (this being my first healer). Ailinilia couldn't be who she is without you.

Thanks for all you did and I was so sad to see you go. It broke my heart that on the same day I became Cardinal you left our halls. It made it bittersweet, not that I wanted to rule over you, but I enjoyed our interactions. The problem with getting "older" is that people start leaving. Who will I bother with you being gone, especially now that Sarien is even more aloof and "holier than thou" as an avatar and Lortas has gone on a vacation?

Being a healer is hard, unless you love not killing people and being at everyone's beck and call at a moments notice, which is why I love being a healer **giggle** Thanks for making it fun!

I am bummed to see you go. Kudos for sticking out a healer for so long...I'd not stand a chance in hell at playing a healer. And yes, you definitely would get quite zealous for an acolyte. Sometimes you'd start barking orders on CB, and I felt like saying "Mind if I be the captain now??" lol..but I could usually make a small comment and you'd let me take the lead back. I also never minded that you were bloodthirsty, as I am pretty laid back, so don't take offense from the prior comment. We had a lot of fun times together, and you helped me with just about anything I ever asked you too. good luck with the next!

As you said, you and Ailinilia were very similar in many ways, but I called you my fighter Healer, because well, you were . Because of that, I considered the both of you as my, slightly different, but equally close friends and I'll miss having you around, as I did miss seeing you later on. The two of you complemented each other nicely.

Healers are generally boring, I've been there before, and you lasted a whole lot longer than I did. Good company and a fun role only get you so far.

That's another good friend from 'the-old-days' gone, now I'll really start feeling old

You actually waited a lot longer to delete than I expected, even though I havent been able to play much recently. You seemed to show a disinterest in the class after awhile, and seemed quite angry at your "ineffectiveness" at times.

Really the fact that for most of our lives the only two consistent maran were 2 pallies and a thief the healer class was FAR less useful than it could be. Especially due to the virtues I have.

One thing that I doubt anyone is going to mention, but it was pretty clear to me early on that this was a male player. I cant point to anything in particular except for that meeting, where you were very aggressive in speaking.

There are a few articles and books you can read on feminine speaking styles and the subtleties of femininity. For instance, when making a request of someone like a server at a restaurant, the feminine style tends to be more apologetic.

Wow that whole thing seemed to be me ragging on you. Thanks for all the adventures, and my god Nizarrsh Datul took FOREVER. Also thanks for dealing with my total newbishness as a squire.

Hahaha, I'll pass on the whole book reading, I had a decent description and a favourable role in mine and i went with it. The class was certainly frustrating at times, but that each has its own advantages and disadvantages. I think i certainly let my aggressiveness get the best of me in a few situations i should have been more subtle as per my role, but the true nature always does come out eventually.

The delete was long overdue though.

>Have to say, Was incredibly suprised with the tat and

Heh. Baerinika went out of town for ten days just after that; I have a sneaky suspicion that's why I got it when I did. As for Marshall, at the time it seemed like it would be me or Lortas. I actually kind of figured it would be Lortas.

>at that class i think it appears to be a difficult one to be a
>true force to reckon with on your own...

More on this when I'm dead. I feel like it's feast or famine. Some situations are ideal; others incredibly sucky.

I generally liked Adelin, but there were two situations where you got on my nerves. Please take this in the spirit in which it's intended, i.e. constructive criticism:

First, that time when the game crashed while we were raiding Scion. Everybody logs back on and we're like, "Where's Adelin?" Turns out you were off getting a stoneskin prep. Now I can see why you'd do that, but given we were right in the middle of a raid, I felt like you should have finished that first. On the other hand you have gate so we didn't have to wait that long.

The other was that brouhaha surrounding Sarien's policy change on the Fortress and Tribunal law. During that big meeting, it seemed like you kept interrupting people and speaking out of turn. Everybody there was willing to hear your side of things; you didn't need to be so "urgent" about it all.

Anyway...glad you had fun. Keep 'em coming.
