Chapter 3

Blinking out of one of his "beauty naps", Haelior let out a cat-like yawn and
shivered into consciousness. Sleep hadn't been doing much good lately and it
was starting to annoy him. "Must be the damn Gods again, messin' with me." He
turned his gaze upward at the night sky. "You wish you had this!" he yelled
out, grasping his groin and then chuckling to himself. When he got no
response, he childishly stuck his tongue out at the full moon.

Removing his cloak as makeshift blanket from his 'bed', Haelior stood up
slowly and began to stretch for a workout that would never come. His 'bed'
rolled over and began to sit up, one of his golems which had been facedown in
the earth. Haelior glanced over at the golem and muttered absently "Oh, clean
yourself off - you're going to get dirty and make me look bad! And next time,
flatten your head a bit - slam it into a wall or something". While the unholy
machination laggishly fumbled to strip dirt and flesh off of its face,
Haelior walked over to the local lake to have a look at himself.

Grinning immediately as he caught his own glance, he was always impressed how
impressive he looked. Widening the grin to comical size, something inside
stopped his moment of fun... that memory again.

You find yourself behaving courteously and righteously. You try to
scream, but nothing happens. Your blood boils as you try to wrest control of
your facial muscles away from someone else, but only manage to create a hint
of a sneer. You feel the other, tamer person with you - a partner in
consciousness...You both want the same things, but he holds you back. Why?
You recall planning that if and when you escape, you would become a twisted
perversion of him. Your name, too, would be a twisted perversion of his.
Haelior, rather than . . . Rather than that self-righteous fool that hides
his rage and fights others who have the strength to be what he wants to be.
The details of the memories slip through your grasp, though the feelings
still sing in your veins.

With an uncharacteristic enraged growl, Haelior lunged his fist into the pool
of water and glared like a madman at the shimmering visage.

"Ahrloire... you'll never get it back! NEVER!" Starting to pace along the
shore, he mumbled "What to do, what to do. Murder, love, sex?" He gagged for
an audience that wasn't there. "Noooooooo.... this time it'll be you who gets
tortured."

The serene lake rattled with his maniacal laughter.

Chapter 2

Hidden within the wallboards of a false cave support just south of Galadon,
lies the remains of young Haelior's journal. His memory of its whereabouts
have long been forgotten - for some unknown reason, the pages are slowly
turning completely black.... as if Thera itself wants to erase something.

Chapter 1

"Hmmm... yeeaaaaaaah, I don't remember this room at all. I mean, clearly it's
pathetic - Haelior would never tolerate such drab colors. Definitely not
here."

A young man across the room begins to back up nervously, his pleading eyes
lingering on the door being blocked by this strange pontificating outsider.
Regretting his choice to let him in, the simple man tried to ignore his
rising fear by answering some non existent question. "Never liked them colors
either, just got no coin t'change it."

Haelior started to slowly walk towards the side, tapping a finger to his
chin. The young man moved in matching slow motion like a trapped deer trying
to escape but Haelior swiftly twirled around on his heel and moved back to
block the door. The farmer froze in place as sweat began to pour down his
forehead.

"I remember... hmm. There was a boy, walking out of a burnt-out building.
Little runt, nothing to um, nothing like me of course." Haelior locks his
eyes on his audience and asks with a rehearsed kindness. "You're old
enough... clearly, do you remember anything like that?"

Fumbling for any response, the farmer tried his best to sound calm and failed
miserably. "Uhh, yeah no-... ah, I mean maybe? I ain't remembering much righ
now. Lotta stuff burns."

A devilish grin spread ever so slowly across Haelior's face that made the
farmer nearly piss himself. "Well, of course it does. Maybe I started it?"
With an impish wink and wolvish smile, the farmer this time did indeed
relieve himself. In a moment of pure panic, he bolted for fresh air.

"Ah-ah-ah, now don't be so rude! You are one of the early lucky, soon-to-be
many, that are going to see what happens when perfection never stops." With a
quick twiddle of his fingers and a mumbled phrase, the farmer faltered in his
sprint and unceremoniously slammed head first into the doorframe with a
sickening crunch.

"Well, that makes this next part easier." With a quick tightening of his
grip to crack some knuckles and a small little arm flex, Haelior closed the
door and began to whistle.
