Chapter 4

"Yesss... this is a perfect place for a shrine to your power."
A flash of light, a wave of searing heat. Flames catch on to the dry,
simply wooden structures and they start to burn, filling the air with
thick smoke. Standing in the middle of the "street", if one could call
the trail going through the village of the jade elves such, Faelria
watches the destruction spread, focused intently on the bright, hot
flames despite their light making her eyes water. The villagers were
nowhere to be seen, hiding from the brutal, sudden attack, and those
who hadn't made it away in time... were now feeding the fires. The
dark-elf smiles in grim satisfaction, reveling in the sight for a while
longer before she leaves.

Faelria is never alone. Whether the voice in her head is just a lucid
dream, a hallucination brought to existence by the years spent in
solitude in a cold prison cell after being caught in a raid by a rival
house, or a true vengeful elemental force just seeking to unleash its
power on the world through the dark-elf is all irrelevant; for her, it
is her never-tiring companion, her provider, the source of her strength.
More accurately, two personalities dwell inside her, not always in
agreement, with the one she sees as "herself" being mostly in control.
Her cold, patient and calculating nature is countered by the fiery,
destructive Spirit side, with which she often converses and plots in her
thoughts... as well as tries to keep it at bay.

Even despite of her own personality being the dominant one, she sees the
Spirit as the one truly guiding her. It grants her all the power... and
in return, she helps it realize its desires. In her view, everyone else
does the same, as well. Whether they know it or not, they all are just
pawns in a game for some greater beings, and the ones ascending beyond
mere mortality become the ones in control themselves. Herself, she is
content being a "pawn", as she takes pleasure in serving the Spirit.
