Chapter 1

My flesh continues to rot away from this disfiguring disease, and my brain
continues to erode. There are few moments of clarity left, as I often find myself
drenched in blood with no memory of what happened or who was slaughtered.
When I meditate within the Chasm, I am able to recollect some moments of my
life as I reflect on what I must accomplish. Once I leave the familiar surroundings
of the Chasm, a frothing sense of bloodlust overtakes me. The agony of my
wilting flesh drives me to continue on, as if pain is my only purpose for living
now.

I should warn people, I suppose. The guilt sometimes overtakes me when I
realize what I have done. But, guilt can be easily forgotten when I gain some
hint of pleasure from the emptiness. Those who fall before me are responsible
for their own fates. They left their safe lives knowing they may run into me some
day. They are to blame for my dear daughter being taken from me. They will
suffer as I have suffered.

My instincts continue to take over. I find myself rushing into certain suicide on
many occasions, against my remaining sanity. To die would be a release I
cannot abide. I continue to survive. My luck holds out, and I continue to
strengthen my conviction, even though my body and mind continues to
deteriorate. I have no doubt that my fury will overwhelm me and be my undoing,
but I will take as many of them as possible with me before I go down for my final
decay.
