Chapter 1

"Hmmm... yeeaaaaaaah, I don't remember this room at all. I mean, clearly it's
pathetic - Haelior would never tolerate such drab colors. Definitely not
here."

A young man across the room begins to back up nervously, his pleading eyes
lingering on the door being blocked by this strange pontificating outsider.
Regretting his choice to let him in, the simple man tried to ignore his
rising fear by answering some non existent question. "Never liked them colors
either, just got no coin t'change it."

Haelior started to slowly walk towards the side, tapping a finger to his
chin. The young man moved in matching slow motion like a trapped deer trying
to escape but Haelior swiftly twirled around on his heel and moved back to
block the door. The farmer froze in place as sweat began to pour down his
forehead.

"I remember... hmm. There was a boy, walking out of a burnt-out building.
Little runt, nothing to um, nothing like me of course." Haelior locks his
eyes on his audience and asks with a rehearsed kindness. "You're old
enough... clearly, do you remember anything like that?"

Fumbling for any response, the farmer tried his best to sound calm and failed
miserably. "Uhh, yeah no-... ah, I mean maybe? I ain't remembering much righ
now. Lotta stuff burns."

A devilish grin spread ever so slowly across Haelior's face that made the
farmer nearly piss himself. "Well, of course it does. Maybe I started it?"
With an impish wink and wolvish smile, the farmer this time did indeed
relieve himself. In a moment of pure panic, he bolted for fresh air.

"Ah-ah-ah, now don't be so rude! You are one of the early lucky, soon-to-be
many, that are going to see what happens when perfection never stops." With a
quick twiddle of his fingers and a mumbled phrase, the farmer faltered in his
sprint and unceremoniously slammed head first into the doorframe with a
sickening crunch.

"Well, that makes this next part easier." With a quick tightening of his
grip to crack some knuckles and a small little arm flex, Haelior closed the
door and began to whistle.
