Today's post is going to be answers to several questions that have been emailed to me. Unfortunately for many/most of these questions, I don't have the *full* answer, just the answer as I understand it. Some of the info may be inaccurate, and probably not as specific as the person who asked the question was hoping.

Treebeard asks:
-Bash. Workings of it, how to maximize it (for both high strength and low strength races specifically).

Bash is 2 rounds of lag for you, and 1-4 rounds of lag for someone you bash. The 1-4 rounds is variable, and weight is not a factor in the duration of enemy lag. Weight, size, and bash skill % are factors on whether the bash lands successfully. Being one size larger with a lot of weight and 100% bash is optimal for the bash actually landing.

-Any reason, ever, to use leverage? IE, pierce/thrust/misdirect/etc all seem better options.

I generally don't practice leverage on my staff spec chars. That said, one of the edges I helped come up with (Weighted leverage, I think it is called) is designed specifically to make leverage maybe worthwhile to take on someone with reasonably high strength.

-Why would an orc ever use headbutt over lash + lasher edge?

If the orc didn't want to be wielding a flail/whip would be one reason...

Cenatar asks, with respect to Imm XP requirement for areas:
- What areas have it and how much imm xp is required to enter them?

I only know of one area, and it is an explore area. Technically there isn't imm xp required to enter the area - there is imm xp required to begin the quest that will allow you to enter the area.

Frosty suggests:
Maybe give the numbers to how some warrior legacies work? What poundage of weaponry does it take to make trapping kick in, how much -ac to make gates kick in. Maybe address rumors like some say harmonius is worthless and a waste of a legacy on anything with giant intelligence?

Trapping Beneath Thunder: I don't know the exact poundage, though for some reason 30 pounds sticks in my mind as the starting point. Could be totally wrong on that. I can tell you that you're (in general) better off having a REALLY heavy mainwield and a light dual (and just not getting a bonus for the light weapon) than trying to balance it out between the two. Also, I can tell you it's the same starting weight regardless of weapon type - that means if you're going trapping, you probably shouldn't be a dagger spec.

***EDIT*** Trapping actually starts at almost any weight - like 8-10 pounds. However, it's a sliding scale and weight that small pretty much will really hardly even show up. About 30 pounds is where it really starts to be a good legacy. Thanks Daevryn for clarifying this for me!

Gates of the Forge: Again, I don't know the exact point that the dam reduction kicks in, but I'm pretty sure it's there the moment you wear any armor and have -ac from it. It is a sliding scale. I generally don't EVER choose my armor based on the AC, even on a Gates character - I'd much rather base my armor on DAM, HP, -svs, +STR/DEX, and that sort of thing. The damage reduction maxes out at about 30%, IIRC, and you'll probably be close to that as long as you have some form of armor in most every slot. I *do* tend to avoid wearing eq that is type "clothing" if I'm a Gates character, unless it's really good stuff.

Harmonius Equilibrium: I believe people say that Harmonius is "worthless" because Greeting is "better" at defeating bash. That may be true, but Greeting doesn't do anything against trip, cranial, pincer, misdirect, lash, legsweep, and so on.

It has been a long while

It does not. Headbutt you're using your forehead, whereas savage feeding is trying to get your mouth around to bite them.

Gates only goes up to 25% dam redux.

So, a follow-up question:
The 1-4 rounds of Lag. Is there anything a player can do to affect that, or is it 100% random? Basically, I get that the traditional bash factors (weight/size/skill) are a factor in landing the bash. But what, if anything, factors into the resulting lag of a successful bash?

Thank you!

To my knowledge, the only thing that a player can do to affect the number of rounds of lag (as the basher, not the bashee) is take the Greeting the Avalanche legacy. I *think* that the way this works is that you basically get 2 dice-rolls at your lag (still 1-4), and you get the larger of the 2.

I could be wrong on this, though!
80, Not sure if this is where to ask...

But as part of Twistmas, can we have a list of cool stuff that hasn't been handed out?

IE quest forms not handed out, AP weapons, quest familiars, etc.

Thanks!

He's wrong... ;)

It's not as good as that, its basically a complicated chance to replace a 1 with a 2 or a 3.
