Role

Chapter 2

Changing and maturing outlook on life.
Added Fri Dec 26 15:41:40 2003 at level 51:

As Mond has grown in strength and the knowledge of the Visceral world...both
the good and the ill, his outlook on where he stood and what his purpose has
evolved as well.

While he began his journey believing that it was his duty to find some Lord
or Cause to pledge himself to in service...his idea of what form that Service
must take has changed subtly.

At first, he approached the Fortress not knowing where he might fit in, and
it was only after long talks with Amiwiel and Thalit and Beltantis and others
that he began to see that "serving" the cause of the Light also can include
being a soldier in the War against the Darkness, and he saw that his own
small gifts and native temperment led him towards that path.

When he was younger, and just set out on the path of the Squire, the heat of
his blood was often hard to contain, and he found it hard to listen to
councils of caution and safety...and had a hard time dealing with such orders
like that time that Lariya ordered him to not come with her to the Palace to
retrieve the Orb...just because there at the Palace were six that he
could...by the grace of the light...bring to the Justice of the Light.

While the heat of his blood has not cooled with his bit of aging into
maturity, he has gained quite abit of "world wisdom" and has gained a
measure of control over his hot blood.

The largest change to his outlook and the way in which he serves the Light,
is his growin understanding that, while he is still not the most intelligent
even amoung the slow-minded of his race, and as such is often lost in the
High thoughts and discussions....he often finds himself in a position where
his insights into the lowly needs of the day to day struggle are more acute
than those who he is serving and travelling with at the time. Often he has
found himself in the position where he had to step forward and make strong
suggestions to those who are undoubtedly much more intelligent than himself,
in order to make sure that their lives were preserved, often needing to lunge
himself between them and danger in order to give them time enough to escape
or rally for another assault.

Also, recently, he is becoming more and more impatient with his seeming
inability to come "in time" when his friends call. It seems he is always
dashing here and there, almost always arriving too late to bring his skills
to the aid of his friends. And soon after he obtained his final
advancement, this problem is what weighs most on his mind...how he can become
better and a more useful servant to the Cause.
